Happy Fourth of July! I can’t believe it is July already. I thought you’d like a look back at my patriotic tablescapes for some inspiration for your holiday meal. This one featured my vintage milk carrier holding Ball jars of water filled with blue hydrangeas freshly cut. The little star sprays were Dollar Tree finds some years ago, and I have kept them for all my patriotic holiday tables.
Make my Patriotic Table Runner with TriRecs rulers. Make three stars, then use a patriotic print to expand the size.
Pretty tables can be inexpensively made with just Dollar Tree finds and disposable things too. This outdoor cookout table used paper napkins over white placemats for color, then plastic star plates from Dollar Tree. Paper napkins are tied with ribbon. Add some red plastic cups and you have a festive table for lunch. This one was a girlfriends potluck lunch, and maybe that can happen again sometime soon.
Inside the house, this Patriotic Mini Quilt has three lines of quilting – one with red thread in a fireworks design, one blue thread with stars, and white thread loops.
What a great time to begin a Quilt of Valor. My pattern, To The Nines, has three sizes appropriate for awarding to veterans, or enjoying in your home.
Another patriotic table used my fun red baskets, like those you get at a diner. I set them on white dinner plates and gold chargers, and added red napkins with red ring holders. I found the checkered wax paper liners at Dollar Tree too, and used them at the meal along with one under the centerpiece to add a bit more color to the table. This table features my grandmother’s lace tablecloth for a vintage feel.
I used my Mason Jar Candles, changing out the flowers in the bottom for red carnations. I’ll do that again this year.
Of course, you have to have great food, right? See my posts on Ham Roll Ups and The Last Deviled Egg Recipe You’ll Ever Need. I now use sriracha sauce as the heat in my eggs. See that post for the components and proportions to make perfect deviled eggs every time that people will clamor for at your next potluck. It has enough variations that you’ll have ideas for picnics to come.
This tablescape began with a table topper from my Scrap Dance Tango pattern. I added vintage lace placemats, red chargers, white plates with red salad plates. The serving pieces are plastic, found at a silent auction of vintage items some years ago.
Serve my Crescent Dogs as an entree, or cut into bite size pieces as a party appetizer.
Dessert, anyone? How about some strawberry shortcake? Easy with purchased pound cake, fresh strawberries and some whipped cream. Add a few blueberries for a red white and blue delight.
OK, one more idea for a festive centerpiece. Note again I use my patriotic runner as the base for this table. Using a large red basket, I added silk flowers and a couple of flags in the design. Those same star sprays fill in the blank spots.

Great collage of RWB celebrations, Carole. Happy 4th! We took a short trip up to our annual Mountain State Art & Craft Fair yesterday (50+ years strong except for the gap year). Tonight we’ll have a front row seat to city fireworks. And what’s the 4th without a hot dog??? 🙂
Oh that hot dog does look good! I did break down and buy some BBQ at the grocery store, so that will be fun. Happy 4th Carole!

I keep thinking I want to do “holiday” table runners and patriotic is at the top of my list. The whole family will be here for swim/supper tonight. I guess I can swap out to a red table runner I did a few years ago. Be well and enjoy. Great post, love all those links.

You have such great decorating and food ideas for the holidays! Fun to see all those great tablescapes again. It’s a pretty regular Sunday at our house, but we will go get my mom and bring her here for a hamburger and eat outside on our porch. The city fireworks that used to be just a mile away from us at the park we could walk to have been moved to a location that’s not as easy to get to, but we’ll go for a walk later anyway and see what we can see up in the sky.

I am planning on starting To The Nines for a QOV this afternoon, but after lunch with my neighbor, I will more than likely be in a food coma, and will nap all afternoon. I’m inspired! A beautiful collection of tablescapes. I made a patriotic table topper this year, but have it draped on my loveseat for now. It was the guild’s monthly project for June, sharing at next week’s meeting so I’m keeping it free of picnic spills this year.
