Table for Two

This year I have not been inspired by Valentine’s Day.  Usually by now I have red hearts all over the place, with my two heart table toppers displayed prominently.  This year I didn’t even get them out until this week, and even now they seem boring, just the same-old same-old.  But it was time for the snowflakes to be packed away, so I decided to get out my French themed plates and build a table just for us two for this weekend.

I haven’t used the French rooster bowls in a while, and their colors blend well with the plates.

Red napkins are held with plain red rings, and everyday flatware is used.

French themed plates sit atop white dinner plates on red chargers.

Individual salt and pepper shakers along with crystal drink glasses complete the settings.

The centerpiece is a collection of red with a French vibe.  My Eiffel Tower sits in front, with a black wrought iron candle stand behind holding three red votives with unscented candles.  A red ceramic basket holds silk roses and green ivy.

Really, just a simple table for everyday use.

All done, a simple table this time.

I have two more French plates I can change out over the next couple of weeks too.

Looking back at past tables in February, it seems that most of the time I do a setting just for two, like last year’s table with a red and white theme and my Eiffel Tower.  Seems like I like to use a French or Paris theme for this month too.

A Romantic Table for Two featured the same plates and Eiffel Tower in a different way, with gold as the main theme color.  I think this is my favorite of all the February inspired tables, with the soft votives and the Cafe sign.  This one more than any other reminds me of the trip we took to Paris years ago.

My Japanese inspired Aka Kuroguro Table for Two was a different take on a table for two.

  1. Your table settings are so ….perfect!! I like them all. In our elder years we have taken to eating in our recliners in the living room. When the kids were/are home we always set a nice table, but I admit our Go To tableware for special occasions is Fiesta Ware. Everyone has their own favorite color.
