I have a couple of days to sew this week, and I am looking forward to Virtual Retreat on Friday as a sew day too! I have started a secret project, and all I can show you for now is this. It is going to be so fun! More details later when I can reveal it. But, it will have embroidery as you can see. It is National Embroidery month, see the bottom of this post for a special sale at Sulky on all your embroidery needs. This is a great time to get that stabilizer!

The mail has been heavy lately, with seven quilts arriving from Loose Threads Quilt Guild in Pennsylvania and one from Cathy W from Brevard.

Gorgeous, aren’t they? I know I have several more boxes on the way to arrive this week.

Now that it is February, thoughts turn to Valentine’s day, and all the blogs I read are full of things to do. But, I have not been inspired by it this year. I have donated my heart shaped bowls and heart shaped candle holders to the thrift store, and there isn’t a lot left. Getting out a bunch of red stuff just doesn’t appeal to me right now. It is kind of the same thing with all the “Hallmark Holidays” like Valentines or St Patrick’s Day, and other things like that. But, I did put up my red and cream heart wall hanging, just to have something different on the wall.

The pattern is the same as my Hearts Around Table Topper, except all the hearts face the same direction. Pattern on that post.

I used the Hearts Around on a table for Valentine’s Day table in 2023. That post shows how to do the rose napkin fold, click on Valentine Fun.

One thing that does appeal this time of year is cherry flavor. I love making popovers, and making a Cherry Creme to go with them is delicious! See my post Popovers with Black Cherry Creme for the recipe.

How about some Chocolate Covered Cherries that won’t make you gain weight? My pattern for this quilt uses a lot of half square triangles. See all my patterns on My Patterns page. If you are interested in this one, send me an email and mention Valentine Chocolate Cherry Special to get it for just $7 (that’s just over 25% discount!) with paypal invoicing. Offer expires on February 14.

There are three spaces left for Virtual Retreat, sign up today to grab the last ones.

And Stashbusters begins on Friday! Sew up what you can this week and be ready to report your totals for fabric in and out since January 1, 2025.

What are your plans for the week?

We always think of red for February because of Valentine’s Day but the flowers for February are violets and the birthstone is amethyst. I think purple is a good color to use for this month.
Good point!! That actually seems more appropriate, doesn’t it?
I did my little valentine tree but that’s about it. Rick usually makes dinner so I don’t worry about a fancy table. And it’s nice not to have to stress about that too much. Love the cherry piece and of course your happy table. Enjoy this week. I love that you’re having a good sewing week!
I hear you! It seems like I just put away my reds from Christmas. Your table topper looks so sweet on the table.
So many pretty quilts. Looking forward to the first Stash Busters of 2025.
Carole,
Love the Hearts Around Topper. You always have such beautiful tablescapes and yummy-looking food offerings. Thank you for sharing with us.
