Fall Fortnight – More Projects

Did you have fun with Fall Fortnight? In this post, I will give you a bit of a round-up of some other ideas from previous fall inspired projects with free patterns. For some readers, these will be new, for others a reminder of project maybe you’d like to make but didn’t get to yet. Decorating with fall season quilted table toppers and wall hangings gives a cozy feel to almost any room. This arrangement is on the formal dining table that we rarely use anymore. The topper is the Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along project for 2021 starting HERE.

This Autumn Jubilee topper is on my treadle sewing machine. The pattern is free and can be found on my Autumn Jubilee Quilt Along posts from 2022 starting HERE.

Other runners are on side tables in other rooms. I put a fall quilt at the end of the guest bed and on our ottomans in the den. My leaf runners are on the kitchen tables as usual. Find the pattern for the large leaf runner on my post Maple Leaf Table Runner, with a link at the bottom for another smaller one.

Get out your hot glue gun and your fall inspired leaves and pine cones for a harvest wreath. Click on Harvest Wreaths to see two styles along with a link to how I tie a big bow.

Holiday visiting time is about to begin, with family and friends traveling to stay with you. See my post Getting Really Ready for Company to make sure your guests are comfortable. You may be surprised by things your guests will never tell you if you take my advice. Be sure to read the comments on this one!

Bake my Pumpkin Orange Bread for a seasonal treat. I made some last weekend for gifts to the other board members of our car club. They loved the little loaves.

Thank you Carole for a fun Fall Fortnight! Your projects, recipes and decorating always delight and I’m so glad to have found your blog. Thanks also to the generous sponsors of your event.

  2. I’m sorry I missed fall fortnight — it looked like such fun! But I am saving that pumpkin orange bread recipe and despite the chaos may well try to make that and soon. I just want to play and not have to deal with ick! Baking sounds healing.

Gosh, those pumpkin bags are a hoot! I see they were purchased – it’s true you can often find things that end up less expensive than making on your own. For a gift bag, definitely buy it, for a quilt, make the investment.

    Hi Carole,

Thanks for the recipe, it sounds tasty. What is the name of the quilt shown on the bed? Thanks, Debby

What a great selection of fall ideas ! It’s getting darn chilly in northern Indiana, and in the mood to snuggle in & decorate & bake !

Thank you for all these wonderful projects. I really enjoy the challenge of the activity. I just started doing jigsaw puzzles and love all the puzzles from C&T Publishing.

Thank you, Carole – your Autumn posts and projects are always fun! I think I’ve sewn something every year since you started them. Time to get out my Halloween Autumn Jubilee quilt! I loved making the Fall Fortnight mini quilt – mine’s almost finished. Every year I have to bake a loaf of your pumpkin bread recipe, too. Thanks to all of the sponsors, and congratulations to the winners!

  8. I always enjoy your projects in the fall. If I had to pick a season, Autumn is my favorite with the wonderful colors that come from nature! I enjoyed making the bell pull this year for Fall Fortnight. I looked back at some of the previous projects and might do some repeats ! Fall is upon us now, with a freeze warning, so ready to cuddle up in my row by row quilt from a couple years ago.

I loved going back and reading your post to get ready for a guest with the guest bedroom. I find the same thing might be necessary for the people who own Airbnb’s! We have stayed at numerous ones over the last couple years and what so many do not provide for is room in the bathroom to store your items and no bedside table – or they will have one but my husband needs it for his Bi-Pap machine and then their is nothing on my side of the bed. I don’t know about you but I like to be able to plug my phone in, water glass, kindle, place to put my glasses and rings. So often I resort to getting a chair from the dining area if there is one and putting it next to my side of the bed (if I can) for all my stuff. So often there might not be anywhere to plug in your devices to charge (or for my husband’s machine) We have taken to carrying a small zip bag that is full of extension cords and numerous type of plug in’s to charge out things.

    1. I think it is different when you are paying for the room or suite, an Airbnb or a boutique hotel. You are more likely to voice a complaint or bring problems to the attention of the owner because there is no personal relationship. But in a friend’s or relative’s home, most people will not because they don’t want to embarrass them. I know I never tell a host that I didn’t sleep well, or have trouble with the room I’m given. The only way to know is to stay in the room yourself.

  10. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to all the sponsors. It’s always fun to decorate for autumn. I love bringing out previous quilts that I have made from your patterns. I’m going to do a few treat bags this week and, hopefully, a kitchen towel too.

I missed the “Company Handbook” and went back – I might just print it out! I’ve had a LOT of company this year (50th class reunion, death in the family and the normal stop-overs) and I have a basket of things for them. But you really taught me so much! Thanks! I’m making the bread this afternoon! I can almost smell it!

Thank you for another fun time with the Fall Fortnight. Special thanks to the sponsors for providing such nice prizes. Over the years, I have read and subscribed to many different blogs, but yours is the only one that has had real staying power. I have enjoyed it so much and look forward to every one of your posts.

Fall fortnight rocks. Like the two-week format.

Been under the weather so went back to catch up on previous blogs which was a bright spot as I recover.

    You are appreciated!

Thank you for the Fall Fortnight fun and for the great round up of projects! You always have the best projects and I will be honest I have to finish up my wool project from last year! All in good time! Looking forward to making some of this years projects after that! Best to you!! Thank you to your sponsors also!!

  15. Oooh, that Pumpkin Orange Bread looks so good. I always look forward to your autumn event. Thank you for all the great projects and ideas, and for the hard work you put into this, even in the midst of the crisis and devastation all around you. I am amazed that you were still able to pull it off.

    1. It was certainly smaller and shorter this year, but this is my favorite season. I have been blogging more than 10 years now, and could do only roundups of previous posts and fill two weeks, LOL!! But I do like having something fresh every year. Thanks for reading and participating!

Hello Carole, I received an email “from you” this morning telling me I had won the $50 Fat Quarter Shop drawing. Having been sent many scam emails before, I was just checking on that one. Hope you are having your best day possible! Respectfully, Shanna Bauer
