This week, I am able to finally share my secret. I have a pattern design in the Fall issue of Quilts and More Magazine!! The magazine publishes today, Friday the 6th. It is amazing as this was the first design I submitted for consideration to Meredith publishing.

My quilt is a star with a pumpkin center with a navy background, find it on page 82. Originally, I thought this would be a fun way to use navy and cheddar fabrics. The publisher thought orange was better for pumpkins, so the pattern is written that way. Large pumpkin blocks alternate with navy night sky fabric, and the pattern is called Evening Harvest.

Evening Harvest, doesn’t that evoke a feeling of a cool autumn night?

The quilt is an oversize twin, long enough to tuck under socked feet on a chilly evening, whether that is outside near a fire pit, or inside on a cozy sofa.

Looking at the block close up, the pumpkins float in the white stars, twinkling against a night sky. In fact, my original name for this pattern was Twinkle Twinkle Pumpkin Star. I quilted it in Navy Glide, with navy Bottom Line in the bobbin. The backside is the same navy blue fabric, a mottled print from Nue Hue fabrics I got at Beginnings.

The binding is also the same navy, which makes a nice frame around the cheddar border.

The magazine should be available at some local quilt shops, major magazine retailers and online at All People Quilt. I am thrilled to be in print, and I’ve already submitted another design for consideration. Nothing will be wasted though, if they pass on it, then I have the next Scrap Dance mystery ready to write!
What do you think? Do you like the design?
Congratulations, that is a lovely quilt.

Absolutely love your quilt—from pattern to your color selection. Who doesn’t love cheddars? Kudos for getting selected for magazine!
Congratulations! It’s a starry autumn night in the pumpkin patch, the perfect quilt to wrap around oneself while waiting for the Great Pumpkin to appear on Halloween night. (My favorite autumn Peanuts cartoon.) I love the colors; that blue is very rich and definitely evokes the night skies. Very exciting and I will look for the magazine in the stores.

Congratulations I know it would be thrilling to be published.
I’m working on some baby quilts and a great grandson who has out grown his baby quilt and now needs a older boys quilt. Would like to get a few things made for Christmas. I’m not very fast any more so It takes me a little while to get things done.
Love your blog, I’m with you so glad we are able to get out some and interact with friends.
I’m in Washington state and we have had one of the hottest summers on record. Very dry and a fire danger all around. We have a lot of forest land behind us so we watch close. Most of the fires are on the eastern side of the state. Oregon is burning bad to. Prayer for all the ones in its path. To have to get out in only a few minutes and decide what life memories you want to take must be hard. I guess my quilts would be mine.
Have a blessed day and again Congratulations on a beautiful quilt.
Bobbie
