Making small gifts for Safelight this month along with stamping a couple of cards for very special friends kept me busy at the stamping bench. If you are not a stamper, please read on for an update on this year’s Safelight Project. Isn’t this stamp adorable? It is called Darby Love, and is also available from Impression Obsession without the heart, called Darby (affiliate links).
I stamped him in red and mounted the image on red card stock. Then I added the sentiment.
Pretty paper on part of the base creates interest with the image offset to the side.
The word set is Berry Sweet. I like that the words can be arranged to say a number of different things. Sets like this are so versatile!
Inside I put an inspirational stamp, just perfect for my intended recipient. You Are Amazing, and she certainly is.
I did another card with pink as the base color, with paper over most of the front. I like this little floral print.
Inside, she needed to know she can be Extraordinary. Actually, she already is, she just needs to believe it herself.
Two cards done and in the mail. Not Valentine per se, but could be with another sentiment.
For Safelight, I wanted to do some little gifts for the residents of the shelter.
I used my Stamping Platform (affiliate link) to do a bunch of bags.
This large stamp is great for use on this project. Delight in the Beauty is stamped in purple ink.
I added small butterflies from an older IO set in pink at the top and a teal blue at the bottom.
Bags made, and ready to fill.
I got some goodies for the bags, just some little things.
Sparkly heart stickers seal the bags. I’ll deliver them before Valentine’s day.
I checked with Safelight this week, and they only have 7 bags left from our Safelight Project 2019. Last August, we had enough donations, cards, and sewn cases to make a total of 72 bags that only lasted a few months. I have a bit too much going on in February to do it again this month, so I’ll be doing the Fifth Annual Safelight Project in March with a goal of getting to 100 bags this time. It will be our most ambitious project ever.
Here’s the pdf for the sewn case sets in case you want to get started, but please do not mail them to me until next month when the project is announced – Safelight Case Sets. Please choose bright colors, pretty florals and fun prints for your sets. Cute cat or dog prints, tropical prints, bright dots, and fun motifs are all good. Try to stay away from granny calicos or masculine themes (the guys don’t get these). Use what you would like to have for yourself, something fun, bright, or pretty.
Impression Obsession has some wonderful sentiments that would be perfect for the next Safelight project. Choose cling mounted for use with acrylic blocks for discounted prices from the wood mounts. Pretty reasonable pricing for high quality stamps, and you don’t have to buy a whole set to get some great sentiments!! If you are a card maker, find inspirational sentiments stamps at Impression Obsession HERE. These cards were sent last time from Lenora Scott.
So, we’ll get going in March with a goal of delivery in early April. This project isn’t possible without your support. Thank you, and I hope I can count on you again this year.
What are you working on this week?
Fat Quarter Shop has new items on sale – 20% Off the Basic of the Month, and 30% Off the Notion of the Month, Precuts of the Week, plus check out the Daily Flash Sale – something new at clearance pricing every day!
I wish I had the time to make some but I do plan to send a donation.
I’ve got about 10 for you made by my “sewing ladies” at Brandywine Assisted Living. These gals are all in their 80’s, and did their “very best” for this project. They certainly sewed with LOVE. I’ll wait until you say “ship”. I’ll get you a good count later this week too. 🙂 LOVE the cards!
Sweet, heartfelt project. The Darby Love stamp looks my Welsh terrier granddog! ♥
Glad to see this post. I’ve been making and saving cards for Safelight since New Year’s. Will wait till you say send to pass on. The dog stamp is just darling!
I’m making cards for all sorts of places, including Safelight. Earlier ordered from Impression obsession on your recommendation, & was very pleased with stamps and delivery time. Recently “discovered” Inloveart, ordered some dies, & it took forever, so IO is even better in my eyes. I’m quite the dabbler still, exploring ideas & making them happen, so have a few for our Sr. Center Meals on Wheels folks, some for Adult Daycare on site, plus Veterans Day activities, & some I think Safelight will like too. Will stay tuned for mailing details!
Thanks for reminding us about this project. I’ll get sewing so I’ll be ready for next month.
Hello Carole, All of the cards and bags you have shown us are so encouraging and wonderful! You are such a positive influence in everything you decide to do. Your community is so lucky to have a special person like you. Oh my goodness, the bags….where did I put them? I have been busy trying to keep up with the other projects you are hosting this year, which I am having a blast with all of them. Yet, I can not remember where I put those bags. LOL. I found it so encouraging in the comments that so many are already making cards and making bags! I have no doubt that you will reach the goal of 100 set for this year! Well, I had best get going and started on my QOV Blocks and posting today. Have a fabulous day!!!
Awesome post. I don’t stamp (although I have a lot) but your posts inspire me and I have no problem spending $10 for a handmade card. Went back to the Safelight post from last year. It breaks my heart that there is such a great need for this. I recently got a largesse from a friend who works at a furniture store. Twenty pieces of sample fabric about 30 inches square. Made some makeup bags and matching tote bags for local charity. Always scouting garage sales for small zippers for the makeup bags. A friend has a group that donates their purses (and leaves a little odd change in them as well.) We all bring back our unopened vacation soaps and toiletries. I never thought about the men. Back to the store I go. Thanks for all your work.
I am looking forward to creating for your project. I have a great new stamp set with good phrases! Lovely job!
Wow! What a beautiful outreach project! I am so impressed. Your bags are so cute. The cards with Darby are so adorable! Thanks for mentioning all the great stamps at IO and for joining us at the Impression Obsession Challenge!
Just delightful Carole! The recipients will feel very special indeed!

The cards and sentiments are lovely. Enough choices so you can create a card that would suit someone perfectly. There’s nothing like handmade, with caring in mind! – Julie Mackenzie and my Tom x
Darling cards!
Let me know when you are ready for a donation and I’ll donate $. With my son breaking his leg and having surgery, I don’t have time to do anything. But money will help, too. =)
