Spring Chickens Tablescape

Spring finally arrives this week, so it is a perfect time to do a spring themed tablescape.  I know most bloggers are doing rabbits right now, but I decided that chickens were the perfect choice for a breakfast table.  Tulips and daffodils and my spring ceramic basket are a good starting point.

Setting the table began with the spring green placemats and my DIY butter yellow chargers.  They are sitting on a table topper I made a few years ago using my Value Play pattern.  The light yellow and spring green go perfect with this table.  I put my thrift store find parfait glasses at each place for a serving of fresh fruit.

The centerpiece is a pretty yellow ceramic basket, with spring silk flowers of yellow and white daffodils, white tulips and yellow hibiscus with just a bit of green leaves.

Then the chickens were added, starting with these ceramic chicken napkin rings and spring green napkins.  I am still looking for a set in black iron like fellow blogger has. (Yes, Kevin, yours!  Wink, wink!)

I found these cute chicken plates online and got a set for today’s table.  Each plate is different.  They are set on the white stoneware dinner plates.

Chickens all around the table.  Juice glasses and coffee mugs complete the settings.

Two of the plates have dark color roosters.

I have a few chickens inherited from my grandmother who loved chickens too.

I put one on each side of the basket.

A little yellow bird peeks out of the centerpiece too.

A lovely springtime feel, now we just need some fruit and pancakes, and maybe an omelet.

Carole, I LOVE this table! You didn’t even talk about my favorite piece on the table, and that’s the quilted table topper, which I’m sure you handcrafted! Oh my goodness, it’s beautiful. Purple, yellow and green – my top color choices for spring in the garden – looks outstanding on your table. Everything else falls into place like a puzzle. This table just sings for me. The roosters/hen plates, the woven ceramic basket at center with flowers, the vintage parfaits and your grandmother’s birds, the painted chargers (love your color choice)…..I would be thrilled to share breakfast with you at this table. I would definitely offer to clear the table afterward……wink wink! I’m so happy you’re part of this week’s tablescape tour. Your table is one that inspires me to want to create!

  5. The Chargers turned out beautifully for this tablescape. I too have chickens and think I will use this for my early summer tea (of sorts). While very pretty it is still on the simple side. And that speaks to me. I enjoy visiting the other ladies and Ohhhed and Ahhhd, they were quite lovely. Just not quite me. I’m going to try and remember to visit tomorrows hop too.

  6. What a unique take on spring! Perfect for springtime and especially those farmhouse lovers! All of the little details are so perfect, like those cute chicken napkin rings are so cute! Thank you so much for joining me for another blog hop!

Carole I love chickens and used to raise them for show (4H) as well as fresh eggs and I miss them. The DIY chargers are amazing and I can’t wait to try your method on some older ones I have. The yellow basket of flowers beautiful and the quilt topper fits right in with the chicken/homey fell. It is always a pleasure to blog hop with you.

  8. I have a sweet little chicken and rooster collection so this tablescape really speaks to me. I adore your choice of happy hues and the yellow basket is precious. The quilt table topper is so lovely!

Hello Carole; After reading your wonderful descriptive post and then reading all of the fantastic comments that everyone has left…really what else is left to say? Alright, you know me to well, I have to add my 10 cents worth! No way could I stop at 2 cents, LOL….this table setting is Magnificent! I have developed a love for Roosters over the past several years and so I really admire your Rooster plates. Your newly painted Chargers look so elegant beneath the other setting plates. Carole, everything is just spectacular and I really could go on and on. Your table topper was the perfect choice as the first piece all the way through you chose each piece perfectly and your table setting as a whole says beautifully that Spring is here! Thank you for sharing! Have a great day!!

The yellow color scheme for this table looks so happy and cheerful! What a wonderful welcome to spring! I love chickens and roosters and have used them in my kitchen decor. I am swooning over those pretty plates. Everything looks just beautiful! Happy Spring!!!

  11. I am loving those chickens! They are perfect for spring. I used to spend loads of time on my cousins farm, and love waking to the sound of the roosters crowing! Memories! Your yellow ceramic basket is adorable too. What a sunny table to welcome in spring!

  12. Your quilt topper has such a wonderful spring color palette. Your chicken plates and napkin rings make a cute theme. I can imagine springtime breakfast with the sun steaming through the windows. What a wonderful table for this hop!!

  13. Carole, Your quilted topper takes center stage and is impressive you made it. I love how you set your table. Your theme is adorable and creative and the colors are so cheerful and happy. Those plates and hens and roosters everywhere do spell spring.

  14. I only have one springtime decoration, our pysanky Easter eggs. They are quite terrible, but the girls and I spent a couple of springs working in them. Good memories!

  15. Great table and I do so love the chickens ♥ Right now my kitchen table is covered with all things that apply to seed starting and it’s not very decorative at all. It will return to the bare everyday table soon.

What a fun and unique take on the spring theme! I love all the yellows and the greens and your chicken collection is adorable!

  17. What a wonderful twist to your table. I love the use of chickens over bunnies and with the yellow, green and purple, it makes for both a lovely country, Easter time table. Your plates make me feel like I am right there on a farm celebrating Spring and the holiday. The use of a daffodil centerpiece is the perfect choice to bring this all together. So sweet, charming and adorable. Happy Easter.
