Welcome Spring

Oh, finally, some days warm enough to run around in my roadster with the top down! Now that I am feeling better, it is lovely to have the trees leafing out and my azaleas blooming. I adore white flowers, and these are pristine this year. They had not formed buds when we had our last hard freeze, so the blooms are stunning.

This is just the first plant to bloom, we have several white ones. The sun was just coming up, and I need to take some better photos later in the day when the sun will be shining on the blooms from the front.

The pink one has come into bloom as well. Yes, the color is just this vibrant. The pastel pink is loaded with buds, so more will come out this week.

The dogwoods are blooming well right now. I have a couple of white ones that survived the hurricane.

The front yard and meadow is full of ajuga right now, even after the field was mowed.

Inside, I have the last Quilt of Valor on the frame for the June 6 presentation. This top was sent to me by Mary Ellen, and it is quilting nicely. The pattern is called “Long May She Wave” and was designed by Alycia of AlyciaQuilts available in her Etsy Shop – Long May She Wave Pattern.

I’m putting a swirl pantograph on it. It looks to me like a little breeze flowing around the stars.

I’m looking forward to this weekend. The car club is having a fun drive ending at the Tryon Equestrian Center for a Sunday Brunch. It will be nice to get out on the road again with friends, and enjoy the spring scenery.

  1. So glad to see you back!! What beautiful Spring flowers!!! It sounds like you will have an enjoyable weekend too. MaryEllen’s quilt top is lovely and your quilting takes it to the next level. Was thinking about you this morning and thought I would pop in to check. BTW – Just finished the Collector of Burned Books. Incredible story.

  2. I am so very glad you are back and feeling good enough to drive about, top down! (And to have that great weather.) There is something almost symbolic about healing and waking up to the beautiful weather of spring. Perfect synchronicity!

So good to hear things are going well. Spring is such a joyous season. The return of warm weather, the blossoms emerging, birds chirping happy messages. Certainly lifts one’s spirits and makes your heart happy.

I love azaleas but not so much when the flowers die off and look nasty for a couple weeks to a month!! I’ve got white, red and pink

Your flower photos are so refreshing. Old Man Winter still has a grip on my neighbothood but some hardy daffodils were brave enough to bloom. I’m glad you’re feeling better & will be going out for a springtime rally. Enjoy!

Carole, beautiful flowers, spring in the mountains is lovely. We have had unusually warm temps for about 3 weeks, 80s in Northern Arizona today. So glad you are feeling better.

Glad that you are feeling well, and that the weather is supporting some tripping around for you. I just got my summer car out of storage today. It’s going to be great,

Wonderful to hear you are feeling better and spring has truly arrived on your mountain. The blooming trees and bushes are stunning. I hope you have great weather for the car club journey. We were hit hard with an ice storm that took out lots of trees, power lines down and folks without power, some for days. It was surreal to see so much ice hanging on everything. We loss the top to one of our trees and lots of big branches came down but nothing we can’t handle. Grateful that our home wasn’t hit by any of it. Spring needs to get here; we have had enough of winter. Wish I would see some tulips or daffodils popping up. Robins are here, so that is a good sign.

So glad you are feeling better. Your pics are lovely as usual. The weather here is great as well. The only bad thing is we’re not getting much rain. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
