Monthly Color Challenge

Today I am one of the bloggers participating in the Monthly Color Challenge – Spicy hosted by Jen at Patterns by Jen. February is Bay Leaf, a mix of light and dark green in a fast strip pieced block. I did the six inch block, and it is very important to be accurate in your sewing when working with small or narrow pieces. A flanged quarter-inch foot is essential for me to keep things straight.

Quick cuts and we have the elements for the blocks.

When I got the block assembled, I quilted it with the quilting foot from my MadamSew Ultimate Presser Foot Set. The foot bounces with the needle so the fabric doesn’t bunch up. I did a simple stitch in the ditch.

If you are visiting for the first time with the Color Challenge hop, please stay a bit and have a look around. My blog is a variety of subjects, quilting and sewing, tablescapes and recipes, book reviews and hand stitching, crafting and mountain living. See the categories on the sidebar to see all the fun we have here! I love to have new followers, too! See the buttons on the sidebar to follow by your favorite method. The 1/4 inch with a seam guide, I found they are available here in NZ, for $93.00 And one that fits my Bernina, what a difference that will make. I love that woven look block, and lovely greens you chose.

  2. Love the woven look. Your cute green mug rug is looking springy, which is awesome…sure am tired of winter. I’ve been counting down now for awhile.

What a pretty block and I love your color choice. I’m not sure that I would attempt it as a 6 inch block, those pieces are pretty tiny.
