I made progress on two things this past week. I had decided to do some McTavishing on the Spring Floral quilt, but after viewing the video, reading through the book, and viewing the DVD, I decided that would be too dense for what I had in mind.
So, I quilted up the Spring Floral freehand just to get in the movement of going this way and that. The white squares got freehand flowers (I am just in a floral mood, see yesterday’s post), the floral parts got curved lines, and some touch and go feather shapes in the borders. I think this will be a charity quilt for our club challenge later in the year. I will make up another wall hanging with a floral theme and more space for using the McTavishing technique for background fill.
If you like those floral fabrics, I have some of each for sale in my Etsy store, just $5 a yard plus shipping.
Then I really got busy with paper and pen. I am not really happy with the progress so far, but will keep to pen and paper until I feel a little more confident of the technique.

Looks great! Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
I like your drawings. I like the contrast between the longer “vines”and the shorter “underlying” waves!

Your drawings look great…now you should just jump in and put thread to fabric and see how it goes.
Your Mctavishing looks great
The sketches look great. I say give it a try on the machine. I find it easier on the machine than the doodling with pencil and paper.
