Christmas in July – Star Block

Did you work on your bell blocks yesterday? Today’s step has only one block, so you’ll have time to catch up if you are just starting.

Cutting instructions are in this pdf – Star Block. Note that these blocks are 10-inch finished size.

Pair the gold print 3-1/2-inch squares with the BG 3-1/2-inch squares. Sew HSTs using the Chain Piecing Method.

Press to the gold side.

Trim to 3-inches square.

Arrange HSTs, BG 3-inch squares and center Accent square.

Sew the HSTs together in units of two.

Sew the block using the web method.

Press seams opposite.

Sew columns together.

That’s all for today! Catch up with your blocks today, as we assemble and finish tomorrow! Share your progress on our Friends of From My Carolina Home Facebook group.

Despite sewing all day yesterday, already behind on this. It didn’t cool off last night, feels like the Carolinas here.

I always love your star blocks! I got as far as finding my fabric and cutting the first few pieces for the bell blocks yesterday. But I’ll keep going! Thanks, Carole!

I have too many things going on to do this project right now, but I will surely enjoy watching it unfold. I want to endorse the “web method” for putting blocks and quilt tops together. I recently used it on a table-topper-size project and it went so well! Thank you, Carole, for all the wisdom you share! 🙂
