A couple of weeks ago, I showed you the beginning of this honeybee theme table runner in a Sunday Chat. When we left off, I had put the borders on and was ready to quilt it. Loading it on the longarm, I dug through my pantographs for something that would look like the flight path of a bee.

This one seemed to be good, some swirly parts with a pointy change of direction.

Quilting was done in white Glide thread with Bottom Line in the bobbin.

When I got to the bottom of the table runner, I put a strip of insulating batting across the top of the cotton batting, then placed the hot pad embroidered tops in a row.

Each pad is stitched around the edge to anchor it.

Then with a single pass of the same pantograph, all of them are quilted.

I cut the projects apart and trimmed them square.

Then, the binding was put on by machine, starting with the back side.

Then, the binding is turned to the front and carefully stitched. A loop is created at the end of the binding.

The embroideries say “Home is where your honey is” on two of them, one says “Welcome to our Hive”, and the last one says “local Honey”. These are for sale, $10 each + shipping.

Now back to the runner, I trimmed it up.

The binding is the same black background print as the inner border. I thought it would be a good frame for the piece. I stitched it to the front, then worked on the handwork during our quilting day exhibit on Saturday.

I finished it up on Sunday, and all it needs now is a label.

The table runner is also for sale. It measures 24 x 40 inches, $40 + shipping. Let me know if you are interested in any of these. I’ll be making more for the fiber fair.

The black binding is the perfect frame for the table runner! Quick projects are great; anything from baby size quilts to smaller things like placemats, runners, or mug rugs. I usually turn to making something small when I’m feeling stuck.
I really like your honey pot holders. Are you going to sell them somewhere?
Yes, if no one wants them from the blog, I will have them at the Fall Fiber Fair and more for the Quilt Show shop.
Great job on the bee-utiful runner and hotpads. They are perfect for the show and I am sure you will sell them. Love the technique of adding the insulbright and quilting them all together!
Carole, I love the runner and would love to buy it if it’s still available! Email me and let know how you prefer payment.
That is so springy and cute! I can just see that — so sunny!
Those are so pretty! Is the fabric all from one line? I really like bee themed fabric. I’m sure these things are going to sell well for you!
The potholders are amazing!
For a quick project, I like to make table runners or something quick with machine embroidery.
Enjoy the spring like weather!
These are lovely fabrics in this project. A great result.
