The post office has been busy this week, as packages have arrived from four different states full of quilts. First, From Judy C of Orange City, Florida came seven beautiful quilts.

All of these are different designs, and most are large bed quilts. This one is so colorful, and the stars are lovely.

This one is striking, isn’t it? It has about a zillion pieces.

Two more, the fall leaf one is big, while the smaller one will keep a little girl toasty warm.

From Donna T of Kansas City, MO, a bright and colorful quilt of food fabrics, and a quiet toned, floral quilt with grey sashing. Both quilts are twin sized, I’ve folded them in half so you could see both. She sent a note that said in part “Thank you for delivering the quilts to the displaced families of Hurricane Helene. Hopefully, this will make their Christmas a little bit warmer and brighter.” Thank YOU, Donna!!

Then, from Ellen L of Water Valley, MS, three puffy and bright quilts. Two have juvenile prints perfect for a kid’s Christmas. The quilts are quite large, full size and warm! Thank you, Ellen!!

I began piling up the quilts on my table, with the two I received before from Karen Sue G, quilted by me and another longarmer, and one from Kristi B. Quite a stash!

Yesterday, two boxes finally arrived via Fedex, over a week later than their promised delivery date. I emailed the shipper, Debby O from Downington, PA, before I even opened them up as I was so relieved they finally made it! Opening up the boxes, I saw she sent six big quilts!

The brown log cabin is king size! The others are full to queen size. All were gorgeous, with lovely piecing and extraordinary applique. The two applique quilts are hand quilted.

Debby wrote that the quilts were made by the members of the Loose Threads Quilters Guild of Spring City, PA. She said “We hope they will offer warmth and comfort to victims of the hurricane in NC”. Here’s a closer look at one of the applique quilts. Gorgeous, isn’t it?

I have an appointment next week to deliver about half of these quilts to a shelter in Columbus, NC. I hope to hear back from a church in Gerton to take the other half soon. Thank you to everyone who has sent a quilt to this effort!! You all are amazing.

So many beautiful quilts! I’m really glad they weren’t lost in shipping. Our guild has been busy collecting/making quilts for the fire victims in our community.
