Our driveway has become a feast for the critters, as ripening acorns are falling everywhere. The deer and turkeys love to come by and graze on the bounty. This gal came by on a rainy day, and I got her photo through the window.

A couple of days later, this pair came to graze. The little one still has its spots, but they are fading as it gets older.

Then a surprise. I was talking on the phone when this guy (gal?) came running from the woods onto the circle. It is a coyote. It looks so thin!

It has really skinny legs. It sat down to scratch its ear, then got up to look around.

This may be the one that I have heard howling at dusk lately. I haven’t seen my squirrel buddies lately, and I hope they are hiding from this predator. It can have all the mice it can find.

Saturday was the big annual European car show from the British Car Club. This show just keeps getting bigger, especially since it was moved to a local brewery that has a huge field for us to park over 200 cars. We had a food truck with sandwiches in addition to the food truck that is at the brewery all the time, plus lots of vendor tents. The day started out cool and a bit foggy, but soon the fog burned off as the sun climbed higher. A cool breeze helped, but by noon it was well into the 80s and climbing. I was grateful for the large umbrella we had for shade.

All kinds of British cars were here, from MGs and Triumphs, to Jaguars and Aston Martins. There were also a few MINIs, but somehow I did not get a picture of our red roadster or any of the others. We had several original MINIs there, along with the modern ones.

The Lotus category had this stunning blue, vintage Europa. It was sitting next to a modern Lotus Elise.

I like the look of the vintage cars, these have so much style lacking in modern cars. They are not very aerodynamic, but they look so cool.

There were at least 35 cars in the German category, mostly Porsches but also a few Mercedes and some Volkswagens. This is about half of the German row, it went equally long in the other direction behind me as I took this photo.

Italian cars had some outstanding cars to see.

This week is pretty quiet, allowing me to get a head start on Fall Fortnight projects, and do the free pattern pdf downloads for you. On Thursday, I am excited to meet in person a blogger buddy that I have been corresponding with for years. Vicki at Colorways by Vicki (check out her blog) is coming to Asheville to visit family, and it just so happens that the Asheville Quilt Show will be going on while she is here. So we have made plans to meet there and spend a couple of hours chatting and looking at quilts. We are both rabid football fans, too, so there will probably be some football talk during the day as well.
What are your plans for the week?
We still have a spotted fawn too. Seems late in the year for that. Looks like a coyote to me. Although I have a fondness for mice, in perfect agreement with your sentiment.
I always enjoy seeing your photos of garden wildlife and the European cars too. My brother is restoring a bright yellow Triumph Stag and he’s been given a little old MG to look after. I wonder if any Triumphs made it to the show?
I’m still working on quilts for Christmas gifts and am on my 3rd one. For the first time in months, I have nearly a week to do nothing but sew. Hopefully I will get a lot done. I need to replace a few table runners, too. At least they don’t take too long to complete. One of these days, I’ll get a quilt made for myself. Today, though, I’m going apple picking!
Good Morning
Good Morning,
My local quilt shop, Sewendipitous, Rock Hill, SC, is sponsoring a tour bus on Thursday to the Asheville Quilt Show. I will be on the bus. Looking forward to traveling with fellow quilters for a day of fun. We will stop in Hendersonville on the way home for lunch.
Have a great week! Enjoy your visit with your friend.

I am closing in on my goal to use up all the remnants that have been lying on my table for the past six months or so! I have muslin edges to cut into long strips for narrow borders, and just a few chunks of fabric to make decisions on. I am excited to be nearly done with this! Once the table is cleared I think I will pull out the kids’ ornaments and do the ribbon trees and start the new felt appliqué one. I need three of those so a nice evening project once the pieces are cut. 🙂
Love seeing the fawns which seem to be plentiful here. We have way too many coyotes.
Those cars are amazing. Thanks for sharing them with us. Happy Sunday, Carole!
Good morning! Love the beautiful deer. Your coyote really does look scrawny — maybe a juvenile? Gracie & I have stumbled across coyotes on the bike trail walks and also in our subdivision. There’s one that is really big and has the most beautiful eyes!
This week we will be traveling to Wilmington NC for my niece’s wedding. I hope we manage Mom’s health issues while on the road. We will be gone for a week. I’m looking forward to Fall Fortnight. Have a great visit with Vicki and enjoy that quilt show! Always more fun with a friend.
You know what I’ll be doing today!!! GO PACK GO! Really odd watching them at 10:00 am here on the Left Coast.
So many beautiful cars! Have a great week Carole~

I hope that coyote isn’t ill. He really looks emaciated. Those cars — fabulous! Happy Sunday!
I don’t very often see deer close by but did one day this week. She was triming my English dogwood bush. Top the list this week will be transplanting my lemon tree into a larger pot to winter in. Only things blooming here are the surprise lilies and garlic chives..hot Summer pretty much took over every thing.
WOW Such wonderful pictures! We are having a gloomy, misty day and this was just the thing to brighten my day! I have a soft spot for the coyotes, we have a pair (which is rare because we are very urban) I haven’t heard them “sing” lately and wonder if they are okay. Thanks for the wonderful photos!
What a fabulous show of nature and of beautiful cars! Do enjoy meeting Vicki – it is so much fun to see our internet buddies in real life.
That’s a whole lot of fabulous cars, I bet you all had a great time. And how wonderful to meet up with a fellow blogger, bet you both have plenty to chat about.
How exciting to view all the cars that are somebody’s pride and joy. They are so lovingly restored and look shiny and beautiful.
The coyote looks a bit hungry and anyone with chickens must be taking extra precautions to keep them safe. The visiting deer like your windfalls that are spread on the ground for easy picking.
It’s so nice to meet in person someone that you have corresponded with for ages. So much to talk about but so little time to be together. Hope you both enjoy each others company.
Thankyou for your Sunday ramble around.
Mary :))
Only two more sleeps until we leave for Asheville!
I always enjoy seeing your wildlife photos! We saw a mama deer and two fawns outside our hotel in Novato, California, last week. They were awfully close to the highway – we hope she kept those little ones safe. The car show looks like a lot of fun! I brought home the Covid souvenir from our trip, so have to get over that before I can make any other plans for the week. ;(
The deer do look so pretty, especially the young one still with spots.
Is it usual for a coyote to come near like that?
The car show looks amazing. A huge collection.
