Every year, during our Appalachian Mountain MINIs Christmas party, we have a silent auction to raise money for charity and have some fun. This year, I decided to make some Christmas cards in addition to a quilted item. I found these clip art images online, and printed off several pages of them. I colored them in before cutting them apart.

Then, I dug out some cardstock in colors to coordinate, and began layering elements. I began with mounting each image on cardstock to be a frame. Then I put elements together on larger folded cardstock to create the card.

Every card is different, each one unique. Some have ribbon, some have patterned cardstock.

Some have chipboard accents, others have cording. Some have solid color cardstock as a base.

Some have additional images.

Some have stickers added.

In all, I made 20 unique Christmas cards.

I divided them into two groups, and they will be auctioned in sets of 10. I didn’t show all of them here, just a dozen of them.

I stamped the envelopes with holiday greetings, too.

I decorated the bags they will go in as well.

Then, I looked up hot chocolate mixes online, and made up two sets of mixes in MINIs mason jars with handles. I picked up the jars last year at MINIs on the Dragon. I wish I could give you recipes, but I did some improvising. I added some Suisse Mocha Amaretto to the basic cocoa and dry milk formula for one, and espresso powder to the other. The lids are from peanut butter jars. I made the tags, filled them up with mix, then taped the lids down to be sure there were no accidents in transport. Each auction set has two mixes, and I made two sets.

The Trip Around London quilt is also in the auction.

Then, just for fun, I found these Christmas ducks online. I couldn’t resist getting two dozen of them, and making up some tags for them.

I created the tags up using clip art I found online, and a graphics program. The MINI has Christmas lights across the windshield, a duck on the bonnet, a wreath on the grill, and some packages next to the car. The sentiment at the bottom says “You’ve Been Christmas Ducked!!”

I tied the tag to the duck with candy cane twine. The plan is to put them on the cars in the parking lot during the holiday party.

The auction is coming up this weekend. I’ll post about the party and auction results soon. What holiday projects are you working on this week?

Oh Carole, these are terrific!! Your talents are through the roof!
You are so smart and so industrious.Aren’t the Christmas ducks cute? I am slowly getting into the mood ..slowly . I usually make Gifts but am a little behind.Guess I better get a move on.
I bet that is a fun event to go to! You always have such great ideas for crafty little things that people will love. I’ll enjoy hearing about the party and auction!
Carole !!
You come up with the greatest ideas!
Lucky members of your car club. Everything is so special. The auction should go very well with your offerings. You are very talented. I joined a Christmas card swap this year for handmade cards. It was great fun and I received so many beautiful cards in return.
You have to be their best member! I’m sure everything is going to go so well. I wish I had it in the budget to bid on that quilt — I adore it! The cards are great and the hot chocolate mix a great idea. I love the idea of ducking people while they’re making merry!
So far, my Christmas creations have been hauling decorations out of the basement (aka “the vault”) and trying to get something up! But hopefully, after I get my lemon biscotti made for Cork Poppers I can get the dozen or so handmade cards I do finished.
Love that you share all these wonderful projects! Big Holiday party from work this weekend but pretty quiet after that. Now if we can just get the temp above 20° Thanks, j
Hi Carole! Your projects are so much fun..I especially love the ducks! And, I really like your Around the World quilt. It would work so well for stash fabrics! I’m sewing some Christmas pillow cases that will be gifts for my family. I have a friend who recently lost her husband. She’s asked me to make some keepsake teddy bears from his flannel shirts for her for grandchildren. So, those will be added to the sewing mix as well. Add to that, finishing up house Christmas decor, putting up the trees and writing out Christmas cards. It’s a busy week!
That’s amazing and very ambitious I love it thanks bobbie
Your quilt is terrific! Great combo of those oh-so-appropriate fabrics! And the cards are terrific, too! And who wouldn’t chuckle at the funny Christmas ducks?? Such fun!
The cards and bags are lovely, you have been extra busy.Down here, I found a new free pattern from Audrey Esarey, so now I have managed to get the Canon printer in working mode again, printed the pattern off, cut and taped it together, and need to find fabric. ” Fabric Gift Bag” if you want to have yet another project on the go.
I love ALL your ideas, Carole, especially the handmade cards. The Christmas party will be such a FUN event.
The cards were a great idea! Good luck at the auction!

You are so creative! The MINIS group is lucky to have you as a member. Have fun at the party.
Your cards are lovely! They should do well in the auction. Your table topper and the mixes will also.
