The cradle quilt drive has been amazing. Before we began Autumn Jubilee, I did two updates with photos of the 73 quilts that were received in September. The month of October has been nothing short of miraculous! This will be a very long and picture heavy post, as there are more than 100 more quilts to acknowledge. Unfortunately, some were received without any means to let the giver know, so I hope you will see your shipment here, and know that each and every one is appreciated. Some came with such sweet notes, and I want to share a few of those words as well. Here they are, in no particular order, with the number of quilts sent. Thank you to everyone who sent one or more!!
Mary R – 1 quilt on the top left – “I only had time to make one cradle quilt, but I certainly hope it is enjoyed by the child who receives it.” Indeed it will be, thank you! / Unknown from Oklahoma – 3 on the upper right – No name, no note. / Bonnie C – 9 on the bottom two rows “Hope they are put to good use!”. Yes, they certainly will be!

Sandy O sent 10 cradle quilts, several with little boys in mind.

Danice sent 2 – “Hope they will be helpful for the drive”. Yes, indeed they will.

Irene D and daughter Tammy sent 10 quilts – “The 3 yellow and blue Hunter’s star blocks were made by my daughter, Tammy W, who is a fairly new quilter. She did a better job than her mom!” This touched my heart, teaching the next generation to quilt, while being of service to those less fortunate, isn’t that the way the entire world should work?

Jeanie B sent 10, with sweet truck prints for boys and more cute prints for the either girls or boys.

Lynetta M sent 17 – made with some adorable prints.

Pam J sent 3 cradle quilts.

Kathy B sent 14 – “The cradle quilts were an absolute blast to make – talk about a Quilt in a Day!! Not to mention that it used up lots of my orphan blocks that I wasn’t sure I’d ever use.”

Linda L sent 5, suitable for both boys and girls.

Sue C sent 8 quilts, and said “Thank you for helping me reduce my stash!”

Linda B sent 15 – “I had so much fun making these cradle quilts. I was glad to use up some orphan blocks, scraps and stash fabrics. But I was even happier to know that these quilts will bring smiles to small faces.”

Roseanne sent 2 on the top row with a note saying “Thanks for collecting them. They were fun to make.” / Angela sent 4 on the bottom row.

Kathy R sent 4 – “I tried to make the quilts boy-friendly but I’m sure a little girl would appreciate any one of them as well. Thank you for letting me participate!” – No, Kathy, thank YOU for your generosity.

Melissa S and Dianne sent the 13 quilts on the left “for precious little ones with love” / Sandy D sent the 6 on the right.

Jane L sent 6 on the top row and second row left – “I enjoyed using some orphan blocks to make these cradle quilts.” /Susan J sent 1 in the middle right/ Laura L sent 2 on the bottom left “Thanks for allowing me the privilege of doing 2 of these! I call them 18-inchers…It is great to be a small part of something bigger than oneself!” / Diann sent 2 on the bottom right with a sweet note saying “They were a fun, small project.”

Myrna S sent 4 top row and Helen W sent 4 middle row together in one box with the note “We had fun using our scraps to make them” / Stephanie L sent 4 on the bottom row “What a great way to repurpose leftovers from previous quilts!”

Beth M sent 12 “I love this idea, many thanks to the wood workers too. Passed this idea on to my wood worker friend.”

Wendy T sent 4 quilts on the top row / Unknown from Idaho – 2 quilts received, no note, no name on the envelope.

Finally, three packages just this week contained 12 cradle quilts. Three from Maureen S, one from Keysha P, and eight from Julie C. Thank you ladies!!

That brings the total to an unbelievable 262 cradle quilts!. Seventy-three were delivered in September. I have received 189 in October! They are stacked up and ready to go, and will be delivered next week.

A few of the notes included asked if I would do this again next year. I don’t want to promise that now, but will make a decision next fall. In the meantime, you can contact the Apple Country Woodcrafters directly if you want to get more information on their toy and quilt program. Just click on their name to get to their website.
If you have some in the works, be sure they are in the mail this week. Please include your name and email address inside so I can let you know they were received. Any that arrive after November 9 will be donated elsewhere. Once again, thank you to everyone who participated, paid some crazy amounts for shipping, and worked so hard to make so many little quilts for the kids to have a nice holiday. You all are amazing! Thank you!

Sooo cool. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done in rounding these up and getting them out the door! BTW: it was a treat for me to see ‘my two’, too!
Thanks – I just took a peek at it and it looks like I need to see about this. Thanks for telling me! j
