Mother’s day is this weekend, and it is time to make a really special card. My dear mother in law loves my hand made cards, and I wanted to make a really nice one this year. Her favorite color is purple, so I got out some different purples to use on a lovely large flower stamp.
I used the green ink pad on the leaf section, then three colors of purple on the flower, inking the entire stamp.
Then, it is stamped onto off-white card stock. The lovely clear image has some nice variation in colors.
Then, using a trick learned recently, after I stamped the image I spritzed the stamp with water and stamped again. This made a lovely watercolor image that I can use later on a future card.
Then, I covered the front with a sheet of vellum that had a nice subtle print on it.
On the vellum, I placed an iridescent butterfly sticker with purples, green and blue.
At the bottom of the vellum, I stamped ‘Thinking of You”.
On the inside, I printed a heartfelt sentiment, then mounted it on purple card stock and glued it to the inside. Since she reads my blog, I’ll keep this a secret so she’ll have a nice surprise to read when she gets it later this week.
On the back is my personal stamp.
One more stamp on the envelope and it is all done. We sent on its way.
For all you moms out there, have a great Mother’s Day on Sunday! Do you have any plans?

Carole what a beautiful card! I’m sure your mother in law will love it! I celebrated Mother’s Day last weekend…scheduling time with my kids was better last week; we all live in different states.
Hope you have a wonderful week!
Oh, Carole, you have outdone yourself with this card! Just beautiful. My mother and my husband;s mother are gone now, but I did make a card for my daughter-in-law. What a gift to have a mother-in-law that you treasure. Love hearing that!
So beautiful with the multicolor stamping and the vellum! All the extra touches are very pretty! I’m sure this will be quite appreciated! Thanks for sharing with JFF’s May Challenge, too!
Beautiful card. That is one of my favorite stamps. I’m sure your mother in law will love it.
Gorgeous card! The vellum adds a very special touch. I love stamping the envelope too, it’s like a simple hint of the special goodness inside.
That is lovely. So special to have a card made just for your MIL.
Hi Can you still use quilts for the Carolina Hurricane Project? If so, please let me know where to send one. Thanks. Carol Olszewski

So pretty! Love the butterfly!

Happy week end to you
I had started 4 projects so this year I have not sewn your mystery.
I do miss your challenge
Have a great day
Hi Carole,
Beautiful butterfly card. This could be used for any occasion and whoever receives it would be so happy. I have bought quite a few stamps but the majority are to use on velvet to make my scarfs in velvet along with silks and taffatas. Like to use the stamped velvets with lace as well. Have a patters to make some folded butterfly pins so want to use some denium and lace to make some and silk mens ties to make the stamped velvet and the colorful ties. These will be gifts for Christmas .
Have to get busy with my tasks for the day so have a great day
Phyllis
What a lovely card! No special plans. I don’t expect either of my boys to remember, but a good friend took me to lunch today, and that was nice. At church, all women are remembered and we either get a flower or chocolate every Mother’s Day. That’s always nice. =) I have no mothers or MILs left, so I just greet a few I know. =)
