When this project began, I made the commitment to make and send five queen size quilts to Wilmington for the Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project with the help of friends. The last of the queen quilts was finished in a diamond design, yet another way to arrange the blocks.
Many thanks to Claire and Mac Warner, husband and wife quilters, that put this top together from blocks sent in by readers. When they delivered it back to me, I got right to it for quilting.
The pantograph is called Fascination by Lorien.
Thread is Glide in a sage green with Bottom Line in the bobbin.
The lovely batik backing from Backside Fabrics can be seen on the top roller.
Working down the quilt, the quilting goes pretty fast with this pantograph.
Once again, the fabulous Hobbs 80/20 (on sale at Fat Quarter shop) batting quilted beautifully.
All finished with the quilting, I trimmed it up.
It is machine bound in the fabric left over from the backing.
Here it is, completely finished.
It was delivered on February 25th with the shipment of 42. Jo-El tells me that our current total number received is 128 quilts. While that is a lovely start, it is only 12% of the goal of 1000. I hope there are a lot in progress right now, and that the coming months will see a wave of quilty comfort! Next week the project will be featured as part of Hands2Help, and the national Modern Quilt Guild picked up the project to show in their national newsletter this month. I hope more quilters will find out about our efforts, and decide to participate. I still need more longarm quilters to volunteer, and the donations have all been used to assist with batting and shipping on almost 30 quilts. Thank you to everyone who has helped with this effort!!

So beautiful. I love that pantograph as well. Hey, I see some blocks that I made in that quilt.
My guild has an ongoing drive for QoV blocks and quilts for our local veterans returning from duty. Also, the fire victims in No. CA are being gifted quilts from blocks donated, and there are so many yet to provide for. A very big project, takes many hands. Your quilt looks beautiful, the quilting just makes it perfect! You do such good work! Any family receiving one of these project quilts will be thrilled.
