The last of the three quilts we worked on for the Ventura California quilt guild group was loaded on the longarm, with the other gorgeous wide backing from Backside Fabrics. This time I decided to use a golden polyester thread, the same one I used on the Japanese Art Quilt.
I used the panto Fascination again on this one, it went very well with the block design.
Luckily, the longarm behaved itself so the quilting went quickly and easily with nicely locked stitches.
Do you see any of your blocks in this one?
See the beautiful backing print? It is called Spiced Pomegranate, and a generous 108 inches wide.
We had some rare warm days while I was working on it.
It was beautiful outside, and I opened the windows behind the longarm. Trying to get a photo that could see both the inside and outside proved to be next to impossible.
So here is the view, with the gentle breeze, warm and lightly overcast.
Back inside, I kept quilting until it was totally done.
It was trimmed and then it was ready for binding.
For the binding, I used the excess backing fabric, sewing it onto the front.
Then, it was turned to the back and machine stitched down. This resulted in a line of stitching in the piecing on the front side which I have done before and it looked good.
So there it is, all ready to ship.
I wasn’t able to get any friends together for another sew day, everyone is just a bit too busy right now. So, instead of having another flimsy done, I just shipped all the rest of the blocks along with the finished quilt to Ventura Quilt Guild for their quilters to use. I am so grateful to those of you who sent contributions to help with shipping, the total for both shipments was over $80.
I want to acknowledge everyone who helped with this project once again, I couldn’t have sent these quilts without you all! So thank you so much to –

If you would still like to help, you can make blocks up to March 15th and send them directly to the Ventura Quilt Guild – click HERE to see the updates and lots of pictures. The pattern is still available as well, click on Perkiomen Block. After March 15, the guild will only accept completed tops. If you are in California, and can assist with longarm quilting, please contact the guild, they need help with quilting the tops.
So, our participation in this project is complete. See the previous posts with the completed quilts – Block Update Playing with Patterns, Assembling the First Quilt, Sew Day with Friends and the last Update. Thank you all for helping me to send these finished quilts.

Comments on our participation with the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild’s project are welcome! What did you think of the effort? Did you see one of your blocks today?
Beautiful job and lovely effort! I know it will be appreciated!
Wonderful team effort all around, and a great example of community. Well done Carole!
Beautiful! The quilts are bound to bring smiles. Perhaps a few tears too as the recipients are comforted by the patchwork of strangers. Thank you so much for pulling these meaningful quilts together!
Looking at your list of “helpers” it reminded me of “it takes a village”. Indeed, Carole you are the MAYOR of the village and we all appreciate your coordinating the efforts so that we could all pitch in. Thank you for doing the heavy lifting! I cannot imagine how comforting these will be to those fire victims.
It’s another beautiful quilt. Great job.
What a beautiful quilt. Bless you and all those that helped with sewing, fabric & postage donations. Besides all the damage and disruption to lives of so very many people, as a result of the fire, the area is now impacted with mudslides from winter storms. Your quilts will certainly help bring some much needed quilty comfort to those that receive such beautiful quilts.
Beautiful! Thank you again for such a sweet effort. It will be loved.
Such pretty quilts. I love the curtains in your window. Makes it all seem full of possibilities.
Well done for making such lovely quilts. Yay, I saw one of my blocks in one of the longarm pictures!
Once again, thank you for being a collection point and construction site for these incredible quilts. I think there are many quilters who want to help but don’t have the capacity to do a whole quilt on their. Efforts like yours allow others to participate. You deserve a gold star.
Pat
You and your army of helpers created some truly loving and beautiful quilts! I’m sure they will be deeply appreciated. Thank you for your organizational and quilting skills in this endeavor.
What a great job you did, as usual, and a wonderful project. Loved seeing all those prints; someone is going to be so happy to receive one of these beautiful quilts.
Congratulations on a great effort. What you have achieved is a wonderful credit to you. I am sure i will all be appreciated.
A beautiful finish, and I really like the backing. That would make a great background fabric, too. Congratulations on all the work and the success of your project!
