I am thrilled to announce my second recipe for Moda Bake Shop! I used an older technique that I haven’t done in quite a while called pin weaving. Although I enjoy quick and easy like anyone else, sometimes I like to stretch with a difficult or time consuming project. This one will take a weekend, but anyone can do it, just follow the steps.
The tote is an ambitious project, not because of difficulty, but because it is a bit time consuming and requires an attention to detail while quilting.
I added a pocket inside, and a velcro closure.

WOW!!! I love the process and your photos are superb. I think it is a project I need to do when I had nothing else pressing at the time. My head wrapped around your directions completely so I know I can do one but now is not the time. Thank you so much for sharing your pattern Carole.

Good Morning Carole! Congratulations! Excellent choice on the project; I have been needing to make some totes for a niece and a few friends and this is perfect. I have seen the weaving on a few other blogs and have been wanting to try it, but the directions they presented really were long and drawn out. Making it seem like the process would take a few weeks to finish, which is not what I was looking for. Now the specific clear step by step directions you used, along with the great pictures…I really did believe it would only take a couple of days. So, this is going to be an additional project on my agenda. LOL. Great achievement Carole! Be very proud of yourself, I know that I am! Go and buy yourself something extra nice or something you have been wanting to get for a while now ( if you can of course ) because you deserve it! Great Job I love it! Have a fantastic creative day!

This looks like fun. I actually moved my gridded cardboard thingie and think using grosgrain ribbon might be fun. Will just have to look at my fabric strips and think about color. One cannot have too many tote bags! @susansquiltstudio
It’s a lovely bag. I’m not sure that I have the patience to try it at the moment.
I love this tote. I haven’t branched out into quilting but I could probably sew up something almost as cute. Great idea.
