Springtime Tablescape

Springtime seems to be coming early this year with warm days, brighter sunshine, and early flowers blooming.  This was the inspiration for a table with sunshine and springtime flowers, and one day blog hop.  Once again, I wanted to do this table with only what I had on hand, using the elements in a new way.

Sunshine yellow napkins are held with watering can rings.  This was the perfect table for my grandmother’s silverplated flatware, a lovely pattern from King Edward called Moss Rose.  I only found out the pattern name a few months ago and was able to get a few salad forks to complete her service last year.

Sunny yellow chargers with lacy edges are the base for the plate stack.  I used my white china topped with garden inspired salad plates by Debbie Mumm called Spring Bouquet.  This one has a watering can too.

Sweet flowers adorn each plate, with each one just a bit different.

Of course, the individual salt and pepper sets have to be at each place.  To the right, I placed a tiny place card holder with violets.  I’ve had these for some time but haven’t had the perfect table for them until now.  You can see the delicate floral white on white design of my Noritake Buckingham china in this photo.

Two of the salad plates are from another Debbie Mumm set called Watering Cans, to make six place settings.

In the center, my yellow ceramic basket is filled with purple and yellow silk flowers.  Violet ceramic candlesticks have spring green candles.  The table topper is the Quick Squares Table Topper.

On each end, more of my collection of violet ceramics.  This small sugar and creamer set was the inspiration for my Teacups Quilt Along Block 8.

I love the lines of the design, so delicate.  A little ceramic rabbit holds a batch of purple grapes.  He is one half of a salt and pepper set.

His mate is at the other end, with another sugar and creamer set.

Delicate violets adorn these as well.  All around the centerpiece elements are strings of white iridescent beads.

Wine glasses are added to the table, clear cut crystal ones on the sides.

The place settings at each end have depression glass pink wine glasses.

Sunny yellow color, sweet violets, and watering cans all say spring is on the way.  This table will be enjoyed for a few weeks as I come downstairs in the morning.

Hello Carole, I believe, at this time, that this is my favorite table setting you have shared. It is so beautifully decorated in every way, I had to stop at each photo and just look. Another factor with this setting, I felt like it automatically lifted stress and what not, replacing it all with delightful smiles and relaxation as though you are sitting on the front porch with someone special and talking. Which, I need to add, I know the same feelings will happen as guests arrive and the chatting begins and then the dinner is served. Carole, you are truly a superb table setter and I am always thrilled to see each and every one and you revealing why you chose the setting pieces. I hope you never stop sharing these posts. Have a marvelous day!

Your table is lovely and springlike. It would very satisfying sitting for a meal at a table dressed as such. Really pretty. To me this looks like a table to enjoy lunch. Maybe Easter lunch! Easter eggs hiding in the flowers!!
Enjoy your Spring with all the lovely flowers coming out and the bulbs popping up!!

  21. Jan E

So many splashes of yellow from the lacy chargers to the napkins to the ceramic bowl used on top of the yellow/violet quilted square make this an amazing springtime table. Daffodils are my favorite spring flower, so I love this bright color especially on a dreary, drizzly gray day that we are having.

  23. Sandra Garth

Your grandmother’s silver is a great addition to this table. Even though I’m trying to not buy any new table items I would love to find some lacy yellow chargers. Beautifully styled Carole and how thrilled will your guests be to dine at this table.

  24. Bright and sunny yellow! It is such a welcome sight! I love how you contrast it with the deep purple and the whimsical Debbie Mumm plates. It brightened my spirits and made me smile. I love the baby bunnies and the floral sprinkling can napkin holders. Your floral centerpiece really brings it all together. Happy Spring.
