What is it about warmer temperatures that make me want a table full of yellow? Is it the sunshine? Maybe. But whatever the cause, it made me smile to bring out the yellow dishes and chargers to create a fresh table for spring meals.

The salad plates are called Chloe and they came from Pier 1 some years ago. I do miss that store. They are on white stoneware dinner plates and yellow chargers.

Yellow napkins are gathered into yellow flower pot napkin rings.

The setting is completed with everyday flatware, individual salt and pepper shakers and a crystal water glass.

The centerpiece is my yellow ceramic basket with a springtime array of silk flowers in purple, yellow, pink and white.

The table topper under it is a purple and yellow interlocking design I made a few years ago. See the tutorial for it on Quick Squares Table Topper.

This is a simple table to enjoy for warmer days.

One of the first meals with it was a tomato pie. I bought way too many gorgeous huge tomatoes at the market, and it was the perfect way to enjoy them. Want my recipe? Click on Carole’s Tomato Pie for step by step instructions and a downloadable recipe pdf.

In the sewing room, my longarm was back in action after a new fuse was installed. I was able to finish the Quilt of Valor. I put the binding on, and it is now in the den to finish by hand over the next couple of weekends.

With spring, it is planting time. Now that we are past the overnight lows in the 30sF, I can clean pots and plant flowers. These came home from the garden center this week. I’ll move everything from the Carolina room and the basement to the veranda and spend some time making nice hanging baskets and pots of flowers. That will take a couple of days, and I’ll bring you some photos of the finished veranda once it is done.

Yesterday was the gigantic car show in Brevard we call LuftWasser. It means Air/Water and references the fact that some models are air cooled and some are water cooled. There were over 200 cars parked on Broad street in Brevard. My Sweet Babboo and I worked the main gate making sure only registered cars gained access to the show section. Friends from Ohio came down for the show, and it was fun to see them. It has been a couple of years since we’ve spent time together.

I just found out that a movie has been made from one of my all time favorite books, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. It will be on Netflix beginning May 8. Starring Sally Field as Tova. I cannot wait to see this! If you haven’t read the book, run to the library and get it! Then you may want to buy a copy for your permanent collection like I did.

This coming week is light on obligations, so I will have plenty of time to play in the garden and the sewing room. I have a special surprise coming on Tuesday, so stay tuned!!
Such a pretty table setting. It looks like SPRING! Your porch is going to be so pretty with those lovely plants! (That spring pollen clean up is a chore!) Enjoy your week ahead & the sunshine.
That is my kind of table! Yellow has been one of my favorite colors since I was a little kid and called it “lellow.” Love the dishes, flowers, naps, everything.
You’ve had some fun time! Yet another occasion when I would think about adding Netflix!
You had me at “Yellow”. Still my favorite color. It spreads sunshine & happiness wherever it goes.
anything with Sally Fields in it is usually worth the watch
That yellow would cheer anyone! A beautiful table and the garden is shaping up 🙂 I’m so excited about that movie! I loved reading about the octopus!
The quilt of valor is gorgeous!
Hi Carole! I just love your yellow tablescape! Yellow is one of my favorite colors…I cannot wear yellow, but I like to decorate with it. I just finished reading Remarkably Bright Creatures…what a fantastic story and so well done. It is definatley on my “favorites” reading list and is a keeper for my personal library.
I love your yellow table setting, Carole, especially those pretty plates and the flower pot napkin rings! We can’t usually plant until around Mother’s Day or after, but I’m ready to get some more color and flowers growing here, so looking forward to that time. Your car rally looks like it was fun! I loved that book, too – I hope the show is good. Sally Field seems like a good choice to play Tova.
I love all the yellow. It’s so cheery. The QOV is gorgeous. Someone will love that one. I can’t wait for the movie. The book was so good.
I love the yellow table…perfect for springtime!
Your table is lovely. You are so gifted. I’m glad you were able to finish the QOV. We could still get frost so I can’t put tender plants out yet. Hope you enjoy your week.
Beautiful spring table and flowers! I’ve switched out my pansies for geraniums and vinca about 10 days ago. With the moderate drought, I’m a watering fool!
Your yellow table looks lovely and springlike. I really like your Crystal Water Glasses. If I had one like it I might be more diligent with my water intake!!
The bundle of flower plants will give you lots of colour in your baskets. I recognise the Petunias but not sure of the little ones – Nemesia maybe?
I’ve read Remarkably Bright Creatures which I really enjoyed and didn’t want it to finish. Sometimes you read a book that you wish was twice as long. I wonder if I would want to see it in movie form.
Good to see another great attendance for your Car Club day. They must be such fun meeting old and new friends and taking the cars for a jaunt.
It’s ANZAC weekend here where we honour our servicemen/women who have served in conflicts overseas over the years. It is honoured with Dawn parades and services on the 25th but this year as it fell on a Saturday we get a extra day off on Monday.
Mary :))
I always enjoy seeing your table settings. Do you always leave your table set? It’s really nice to look at
Yellow is such an uplifting and joyful color!
I’ll keep my eyes out for Netflix’s Remarkably Bright Creatures. The book was super and wondering how they will depict the story.

Yes, I have to agree. The yellow looks like sunshine and always feels happy!
The car show looks amazing.
And I have ordered the book from my library, too.
Oh, I might have to get Netflix again to want that movie. I adored the book.
your table is amazing!!! ( I just looked I still have snowflakes on mine – oops) I just love all that yellow, and the napkin rings are perfect!!
Love the binding on your QOV – it looks great!
Spring and yellow, daffodils and dandelions come to mind. And more of the sun too.
Sally Fields was on The View this week promoting the movie. I will add this to my books to read list.
Your table is very pretty.

The book was great. The movie was a huge disappointment as it didn’t follow the book.
