Sunday Chat and Springtime Tablescape

Now that I finished the little table topper in yellow and grey, I wanted to set a pretty springtime table with it. I pulled out yellow chargers and my favorite yellow salad plates. They are called Chloe, and I got them from Pier 1 years ago.

I start with putting the table topper at an angle on top of a white tablecloth, with the points toward the places.

I have two of these adorable ducklings with eggs, with green hats and big orange feet. Pulling out my yellow ceramic basket, I filled it with faux spring tulips and hibiscus, along with greenery, daffodils and filler flowers.

One duck is placed on each side holding her egg.

The place settings have the yellow chargers topped with white dinner plates and the yellow floral salad plates. Crystal drink glasses are set on the top right.

Yellow napkins are held with yellow flower pot rings. Individual salt and pepper shakers sit over everyday flatware.

It is a simple table, but festive. All shopped from the house. I’ll bet you can set a pretty table for dinner today using just what you have in your home. Give it a try! And share your tables on our Facebook Group – Friends of From My Carolina Home.

Something cute is always welcome on a table.

In the garden, the spring flowers are continuing to bloom. In spite of a freeze last week that got a lot of my daffodils, there are still new ones coming out.

More of the double daffs are blooming. They are so pretty with the white petals and yellow double cups.

I like these too, pale yellow cups with petals just a hint darker. Lovely. Notice the split top petal, they are all like this.

On the feeder, a rare sight, both a hairy and a downy woodpecker are together. The larger one on the left is the hairy woodpecker. The downy is the smaller one on the right.

In watching the squirrels, I now have at least two that are coming up for sandwiches, and two more that are still too skittish. I think one is a male, and the other is the female that has gotten comfortable enough to come to the veranda for a treat. So, now we need a cute couple name for both. Maybe this guy will be Linus…

and she can be Lucy?

Or George and Gracie? Bridget and Mr Darcy? Ah, such are the questions that require deep thought, preferably with chocolate. This was one of the dessert trays at a recent car club reception for new members. Oh, yum!

The other one had chocolate strawberries, Italian cannoli, brownies and more chocolate goodies.

The appetizer bar was pretty good too. There were several kinds of sandwiches and wraps for the main course. We were entertained by a member who plays guitar with mostly jazz vibes, and he is really good. Meeting new members, making them feel welcomed and encouraging them to come to events was the focus of the event.

One last time, I promised some time ago that I would give you this on a Sunday chat, so here it is. Your challenge is to find as many words beginning with the letter S that you can. My list has 25 words on it, although I was thinking we had 27 at one time. Anyway, post your guesses either in the comments below, or on our Facebook group. I’ll give you a few days to find them, then I’ll post my list in the comments.

In the meantime, enjoy the daffodils!

Happy Sunday, and for those who celebrate, Happy Easter!

I found 29 words beginning with S in the blog post and 2 more in the Milk Street comment. I had to alphabetize them to make sure I didn’t have duplicates. Fun challenge.

Happy Easter! Love the tablescape and seeing your lovely flowers blooming – not happening yet here in MI! I love the names Geo and Gracie! I will need to look for the S letters latter. Have a beautiful day!

Happy Easter, Carole! Your tablescape is wonderful! it’s always fun to see what you come up with for those. I think your squirrel friends should be George and Gracie, since the squirrels are often funny and entertaining. Those look like yummy treats at the car club meeting, too. Fun looking at the S block on your quilt – I lost track of how many things I found, lol! Have a wonderful day!

You just made my day – as an extended family I had “Easter” on Friday with sooo much food, the kids flew their new kites, the dog didn’t know where to go she was so happy!  Your table of “goodies” is magnificent!   Thanks and Happy Easter.   Joan and Indigo (my computer is nto letting me answer your blog in conventional way, sorry)

Your Table setting is so pretty and Springlike. Your garden is popping up lovely bulbs too.

Your car club reception food looked very scrumptious. Healthy to start but deliciously decadent to finish!! :))

After a long look and probably some difference in language I can only find a possible 16 items beginning with ‘S’.

    Cheers

    Mary :))

Oh my, that tablescape, those squirrels and those chocolates! What a lovely post on an Easter Sunday and a forward look to Spring!

Although we’re currently under a winter storm warning with snow and rain for the next couple of days. Have to moderate the 60 degree weather we’ve been having, right?

Another lovely post. Happy Spring Carole.

Happy Easter, Carole. I could set a pretty colorful table if I pulled out my Fiestaware. Right now we’re still stuffed from Brunch with the Easter Bunny - the dessert table looked a lot like the trays you shared here.

  8. You’re better than I am finding S things — I found 15 (16 if you count your name as signature rather than watermark!). Your table is wonderful. I don’t always bond with overdone tables. I admire the work and creativity in them but I get too overwhelmed. This has the whimsy of the bunnies, the beauty of the flowers, the bright happiness of your quilt and the dishes. Works for me, perfectly. I just felt lucky to pull together a centerpiece at all with daffs and a bunny in a basket, an Anna Lee chick beside it (along with my Beatrix Potter plates and naps.) But hey, dinner got on the table and that was what mattered! I’m sure your Easter was happy and onward to spring, which looks like it has arrived in your world. Happy April, no fooling!
