Jolly Bar Row Along Update

We are more than halfway in the Jolly Bar Row Along.  This is a weekly block and row quilt along on Jolly Jabber, the Fat Quarter Shop blog.  We began with the Sparrow Tracks block, making a bunch of those for the top and bottom rows.

I’m using the Harper’s Garden Jolly Bar to do the quilt along.  My solid color is Porcelain in Bella Solids.  You’ll need the book for the block patterns. Jolly Bar Book Vol 2 is available at FQS.  The second week we did Spinning Spools.

Then, week three was the Migration block.  The details for the number of blocks needed for each step is on Jolly Jabber, publishing on Mondays.

The Row Along will post once a week for six weeks, with a finishing post on August 10. It isn’t too late to start!  You’ll need to follow Jolly Jabber to get the requirements each week, and just see the already published posts to catch up.  Those posts will publish at 8 am Central time each week, just in case you see others earlier.  See all the wonderful Moda Fabric collections Jolly Bars and the  Jolly Bar Book Vol 2 available at FQS.   Share your progress in our Facebook group, Friends of From My Carolina Home.  Don’t forget to see what is on today’s Flash Sale!

  1. Love the fabric choice. It is cute and bright. I’m not sure I would have been able to put together that much variety if I was selecting my own fabrics. Not “sewing along” but enjoy watching what others are creating. i’m still behind with my Vintage Christmas blocks. ;(

I love the way the spool block have such depth!!! And then I’m pretty smitten with the butterflies and the other ones as well. Great choice of fabric too.
    p. s. Just started “A Week In Winter” – such a nice soft story. So much national drama and local stuff and this is exactly what I need. Thanks for the recommendation.
Next up: “Genesis” by Robin Cook

  4. Looking good Carole, hope you are enjoying the sew along! I am finishing up my July sewing binge today and tomorrow, then catching on my quilt along with Aby Dolinger.

Finally jogged my memory – we used to make the spool block quilt for retirees from the fabric store and made the spool center block with striped fabric and left every other block solid light color and empty for signatures. Maybe 45 x 45, just enough for the sofa. Love this quilt more everytime I look at it. So light and airy.
