Sometimes I run across something that just strikes my fancy, and I have to try making it. Such was the case with this cute little gathered fabric bowl. I found the tutorial on a blog called A Spoonful of Sugar, and you can get the full tutorial HERE.
Lisa and Sarah show their version with fusible web between the layers, but I decided to do a quilted one. So I cut the circles with batting.
I made a quilt sandwich and did a simple grid quilting.
Used the basting stitch as they instruct.
The binding is cut to the exact length, and made into a circle.
The tutorial has the binding stitched to the outside, but I stitched mine to the inside to make it easier to hand whip on the outside. However, their bowl is reversible with different fabrics inside and out, so you could just turn it inside out to finish.
Cute, isn’t it? Just the right size for those little scissors.
Are you crazy for my scissors print?
Well, you can have some, it is listed in my Etsy store just click on that to buy a yard.
This is the smaller size, great for bobbins.
There are several sizes given on the tutorial, so hop on over to A Spoonful of Sugar see the full instructions with sizes.
I’ll be making a few more of these for the sewing room. They would be great for thread catchers too. Next time I’ll do it their way with the fusible and two prints.
What are you sewing now?
