Warmer weather has come, and we eagerly anticipated the first drive of the season with our car club yesterday. We weren’t the only ones, seems like a lot of members had cabin fever, and were glad to get the cars out. That is our blue TVR on the left.
We met up at a parking lot near the outlet mall, lining up all together. Lots of people stopped by to see our impromptu British car show!
Setting out on the Blue Ridge Parkway near the Arboretum, we noticed the mountains haven’t greened up yet but at least the snow is gone. At least it is for now, there is snow in the forecast for this weekend.
Lovely views, even without the trees fully leafed out.
It was cool on the Parkway, but a light sweater was all that was needed.
The evergreens were pretty. I tried hard to get some shots of the beautiful flowering trees that dotted the landscape, but they came out too blurry.
We stopped at an overlook for a photo op.
The mountains are always beautiful.
Blue sky and evergreens, such a relaxing way to spend part of a weekend.
At the end of the drive was a fun lunch at a local burger place. It was another car show as we all parked together.
On the way home, DH was indulgent with slowing down so I could get a few photos of the flowering trees. This is a cherry with white flowers.
And these are Bradford Pears, lots of them!
Golden forsythias are in bloom all over the place.
And my favorite, a weeping cherry. These get a hundred feet tall, with cascading flowers down the long fronds in pale pink. Gorgeous. I really want to plant one of these on our property this year.
We do have one small upright cherry tree, and it began blooming this week.
Lovely white flowers with a tinge of pink, they are so pretty!
More things are coming into bloom at our place, and I’ll share our garden soon.

I enjoyed your pictures so much, especially the flowering trees. Here, SK, Canada…nothing…snow on the ground….but a robin made a wrong turn and landed in town last week. Looked very cold!

Like your neck of the woods, our neck of the woods here in Southern Oregon all sorts of trees are flowering along with the Daffodils and the Tulips that are just starting to show their brilliant crowns. We are receiving rain, rain and more rain and hopefully not a person one is complaining! The last few years have seen to many forest fires and drought; a couple of mountain tops that usually remain covered in snow year around still are bare. Yet, somehow with the changing weather comes a change in the lay of the land and it is so brilliant colored in so many shades of greens and browns ( from the trees and stuff) and the variety of other flowering colors.
So glad that you got to go and enjoy this brilliant and beautiful ride; sure surprised me when you said it was warm enough for a sweater. Plus, I know you were so glad when hubby slowed down for you to use your new camera; which by the way, you do a marvelous job at taking pictures…they are gorgeous and bright and clear! I have a doctors appointment today in another town, I will see if hubby is up to the back road trip on the way home and we can stop and get some pictures to post.

So glad it did not rain you out — our car club has a drive planned for early April and I am very much looking forward to seeing the leaves back on the parkway.
I have to tell you when I read the title of your post I had to wonder if it was going to be about golf or as it turned out going for a ride. LOL. (We do have some golf fanatics around here.)
The crocuses on the south side of my house are blooming. I saw some forsythia bushes beginning to bud. I even saw a magnolia tree at church that has some buds on it. Day lily leaves are popping up. Still no signs of daffodils or tulips, but if the weather continues as it has been, should see them in another month or so. Grass is beginning to green up.
Hello from Fayetteville, Ga. Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures of the mountains with all of us.I’m still trying to get all my projects going an make some trips to the mountains to visit places to settle in for the rest of my golden years. Have a doctors appointment with my retina specialist on the 31st so I’m thinking I may have to stay where I am but hoping that t be the case since I love the mountains so muchand I like do craft shows and sell my hats and scarfs to help supplement my income so much goes on in Blairsville so that is where I’ll be starting my checking out post.I shop at Jo Anns for most of my supplies so wherever I live must have one very close by and a good Publix. Those are the two must have stores for me I guess,Enough about me and my needs and thoughts. Got to get back to my scarfs and sewing. Have a great time there for me. Phyllis Smith

Great cars, lovely scenery, enjoying friends…everything’s blooming in Alabama, driving is hard because you are distracted by all the fairytale flowering trees and when the breeze blows it becomes a snow shower of petals…I wish it could last more than a few weeks, so beautiful! Have a wonderful Easter weekend, it sounds like we’re all going to get some weather in a few days 😦

Thanks for some great pictures. Which British car is yours? We have all the same stuff blooming here, some of it bloomed out already – redbud, tulip trees, dogwood, flowering pears, cherry, flowering plum, forsythia. The narcissus and daffodils are bloomed out, along with the hyacinths. Tulips are coming in now, and there is ONE weeping cherry a few streets over. I’ve thought since the first time I saw it that I want one, too. =) My cherry had to be cut down two years ago because it was dying. The birds always beat me to the fruit anyway!
We have the golden forsyrhias blooming hers in Oregon. We have evergreens. That flowering cherry tree is beautiful. I wish I had them in my yard. But my favorite tree to look at is the weeping willow. I could sit for hours just looking at one. I’m not sure why I like them as when I was a kid I got swatted with a willow switch.
My dream car is a 1967 VW beetle. Has to be red with black interior. This dream will never come true as I no longer am allowed to drive because of my vision is so bad. But that’s okay. I can still dream.
