It was raining on the 4th of July, and I had already invited friends over for a cookout. I decided to go ahead, but have the meal inside. So I set another Patriotic tablescape on the formal dining table.
This time because we were inside, I used the red chargers on white Battenburg placemats, with white stoneware plates and my red salad plates.
Each setting got a water glass, wine glass and individual salt and pepper shakers. Red napkins were held with strawberry napkin rings.
The centerpiece was my Patriotic Table Runner, set with the little star sprays and red candles in clear Fostoria depression glass candlesticks.
Wouldn’t you know, about 4 in the afternoon, it all cleared off! I scrambled to reset a table outside, using those star plates and the white mats with the star napkins like I did before.
I had deviled eggs on my grandmothers egg plate.
Then added some ham rollups to finish off the appetizers.
DH did a wonderful job on the burgers and brats.
Baked beans were one of the sides.
These gorgeous strawberries were the main star of the dessert.
Served with pound cake and whipped topping on the red plates.
My sweet friends brought this pretty bromiliad in a red pot for the table.
Sunset came, and we settled back to watch the fireworks, stuffed.
We can see 9 different shows from our perch on the side of the mountain. They are far away in the valley and on top of the ridge in the distance, but still wonderful, and no crowds. There is even one in the meadow on the next street over, very close but the trees are so tall we didn’t get a good view of that one.
I hope you are having a great summer. There is still another patriotic holiday to come with Labor Day, but that is Apple Festival weekend, and we will be distracted by Honey Crisps then.
Very inspiring! Love the antique treasures you included!
Hi thought I would try again to comment kept getting a message that couldn’t post
I really love you table settings especially the one indoors-and your food looks delicious-love your Grandmothers egg plate-what an awesome way to enjoy the fireworks I would love that
Love your table runner! Fabulous! And grandmas egg plate, wonderful to use those precious heirlooms. Thanks for sharing.
Each of your table settings are wonderful! I rarely set up the table, but occasionally it just feels right and makes the table a welcoming factor for guests. Made me want to start reaching in and tasting each one of your food photos. LOL. They really do look delicious. We have several of hubbies Grandmas plates that we use as serving dishes, my mother is still using her Grandmas also. When I get them out or use them at Moms I always feel like they would approve and be very happy. Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day!
A feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds! It makes me happy to see people using family and heirloom pieces. Life is too short to leave beautiful things in the cabinet!
What a lovely way to celebrate!
Nothing better than an all-American picnic, inside or out! Love how festive you made your celebration.

I love deviled eggs but have never found the right recipe, yours look like it may be the one as you have I assume paprika on the top? Could I be so bold as to ask if you would be so kind to share your recipe?
