Fall Fortnight Stamping Fun

I really enjoy making cards, and probably do more in the fall than any other time of year. I keep a few birthday cards on the shelf for that last minute remembrance, but my favorite kind of stamping is in Autumn colors and themes. I’m known for sending Thanksgiving cards more than Christmas cards. I believe that people get so few in November, that they stand out as a token of friendship or love for family more than the ones in December. But cards are not the only thing we can stamp. So, today, let’s have some fun with stamps and stickers.

My stamping bench becomes a mess when I am creating cards like this! I pull out cut-outs, inks, stamps and stickers and let my creativity run wild for a bit.

You don’t have to have stamps and ink to make great cards. Using paper die cuts like THESE or THESE make it easy to give a handmade card. You can also find large assortments of Pumpkins, Leaves and Thanksgiving sets. A set of Thanksgiving Theme Papers will make card making fun. With this in mind, I glued a pretty patterned paper to gold card stock and added a horizontal bar of dark brown.

I added a die cut to the upper part.

Then, to finish it off, I put a sparkly fall leaf in the lower corner.

On this one, I put the brown bar vertically, then added the die cut on top of a dark red base for a frame.

It needed just a bit more, so an acorn is added to the bottom corner with a dimensional dot to raise it slightly off the surface.

Another fun element I have is a set of dimensional food items like this pie. Pairing it with my little chef makes a cute card.

I added the sentiment Happy Thanksgiving with the edges cut out a bit on a strip of rust color card stock on dimensional dots. The inside says “Bon Appetit!” I also stamp the envelopes, this time with a maple leaf.

This one also uses a die cut with pumpkins on the envelope.

Here are two cards made with stamps and leaves. The one on the left has dimensional leaves on a dark print with the sentiment at the bottom. The Thanksgiving card on the right has an embossed red paper over a gold card stock with a dimensional Skeleton Leaf. The stamped sentiment at the bottom is framed with a fall leaf print and accented with stick on rhinestones and a leaf cut out.

If you are into Halloween, this is one of my all time favorite cards.

This card is black card stock embossed with a spider web, then the owl in a tree is added with white embossing powder set with a heat gun. A little bat laughs on the envelope.

But don’t stop with cards! Stamping white bags for gifts and treats is fun too! Hand these treat bags out at your office or small group meeting to make everyone smile.

I put small loaves of homemade pumpkin bread and muffins in mine.

I used to make all of my cards. I go in cycles when I craft. I’ve been in a quilting cycle for years- the longest stop in the cycle of rotating crafts.

I usually make my Christmas cards now but i have 3 actively working on quilts and a wedding quilt to start.

I love to print autumnal quotes on colored cardstock, decorate them with stamped leaves, acorns, and other fall themed items, accent with burlap and frame in a 3-D setting. My favorite quote? “Autumn is a second spring, when every leaf’s a flower.”

Like you, I love cards. Not as many people send them anymore so it’s disappointing.

Stamping, machine embroidery and anything else I can find to embellish with.
