I hope you are enjoying Fall Fortnight! Today, we’ll finish the table topper and have a fabulous giveaway. If you missed the first part of this project with the pattern download, click on Fall Fortnight Begins! When we left off, the topper was assembled, and ready to quilt.

I layered the base with cotton/poly batting and a backing, preparing to quilt. I chose a pantograph of maple leaves to quilt it. The thread is Glide with Bottom Line in the bobbin. I like how the leaves add a dimension of fall to the project.

I went right over the embroidery. I could have chosen to custom quilt this, and if I’d had more time I might have. But I needed to get it done so it would be ready for Fall Fortnight.

When you have quilted yours to your liking, bind as usual. Now it is ready to applique the pumpkins in the corners.

I am doing my appliques in wool. I cut the shapes out in the colors needed, and pinned them to the base.

One tip for doing multiple colors, thread several needles with the different colors needed. Then as you move to the next applique, you already have them ready to go.

Start with the darker outsides of the pumpkin, pinning then stitching using the light center piece to place the darker ones appropriately. Then place your pumpkin stem so the end is under the center pumpkin section. Stitch these down. Layer the lighter pumpkin center on top and stitch. Then add the leaves.

Here’s the first one done.

A day of stitching while watching football games, and the corners are finished. At this point, I haven’t decided if I will leave them as is, or add some seed beads. Something to think about!

Do you like the table topper design? Which new fabric line at Fat Quarter Shop do you like?
I like the Simply Cozy line from Zen Chic
Faith, Family and Freedom caught my eye, however all the new collections are nice. Carole, your pumpkin appliqués add interest to your sweet table topper.
I love the Candles of Christmas cross stitch. It reminded me of a set of angel candleholders my Mom had.
I love the Shibori Blues line!!!
The table topper looks great, Carole. I love wool applique and am doing a wool center on mine. As for my favorite new product at The Fat Quarter Shop ~ well, I love the color blue and the Shibori Blue fabrics are wonderful. So many pretty designs included in the set. I may have to do a little shopping.
my favorite is the Tilda Sanctuary line, but there were several I wouldn’t mind having!
Carole, your table topper is beautiful!
i like Shibori. I love blue and the geometric prints catch the eye.
I love the tea dye as it has so many colors that blend with others. Your table topper is so cute especially with the pumpkins that highlight the topper.
I like the Tea Dye by Edyta Sitar.
The table topper is so cute. Love the wool pumpkins!
I really liked Pam’s patchwork stars for Marcus fabric. Some of the Shibori Blues fabric were also eye catching in that they looked like Sashiko patterns. Bee Haven line would also make some cute table runners.
The quilting and the pumpkins both make it really come alive!
I like the Laguna Sunrise fabrics best.
Your fabric choices for the topper are lovely. I love the blue shibori fat quarters at FQS.
The Tea Dye line by Laundry Basket Quilts will be so versatile. Sending thoughts to all those in NC.
I like the Gentler Times backgrounds by Lori Holt. I love fun neutrals. I need to get busy and start the topper. I have a center block stitched out, pinned to my design wall, just waiting for me to do something with it. Before I can start though, I need to finish machine quilting a donation quilt to send your way. For some reason, I had to stop at 7:30 pm yesterday when the bobbin ran out! (I lose track of time, and that was a reminder to feed the hubby!)
Good Morning,
I have pulled fabric for the topper. I will applique the pumpkins.
I always like checking out new fabric. I like them all, but do like the Faith, Family, Freedom by Nicole Decamp for Benartex Fabrics.
I like the table topper and would like to have Abloom Coordinates FQ bundle by Corey Yoder for Moda for the pumpkins in the corners and centre block. Thank you for another pattern for fall.

That’s interesting to see how you’re appliqueing the wool pumpkins after quilting! I decided to make my topper inspired by a sunflower print I bought a 1/2 yard of recently, so that’s what the flying geese are made of, and the center will be a hand embroidered sunflower design. Not sure yet what I will put in those cornerstones. Thanks for a fun project to work on! At the Fat Quarter Shop, I really like the Picnic Hour fat quarter bundle – I love a rainbow!
I think the Elegant Estate collection by Judie Rothermel was my favorite! I can’t resist those darker colors.
I love how the table topper turned out! I need whatever perfect fall colors you’ve got for the flying geese.
My sewing machine does embroidery, but I haven’t quite figured it out yet. Hopefully I have the time soon to sit down and give it a go! It’s just rather daunting to attempt between changing the foot and figuring out the hoop and stabilizer. And what thread do I use? I’ll get it some day I’m sure!
I love the Azure Breeze batik line! Thank you for this table topper. I have a small table in the corner of my dining room that is naked, so this will be perfect!
I am all over the backgrounds bee bundle limited edition. I have a little low volume problem.
Love Shibori Blues by Robert Kaufman!
I love Laguna Sunrise by Sheri and Chelsey from a Quilting Life. They have such bright and colorful fabrics.
I really like the table topper pattern. have not made it yet but I will. Thanks so much for doing this.
Also like the Shibori Blues fabric line
Hi, I have always been drawn to blues. That ShiboriBlue is just lovely. Especially the line patterned blues.

The Shibori Blues collection is lovely.
I really like Blast from the Past best, but there are way too many collections to love.
The Shibori Blues really caught my eye and I have nothing similar in my stash!
Wow! Such a hard choice to make at the Fat Quarter Shop. I love Blast From the Past, Bee Haven, and A Walk on the Prairie. No way I could choose a favorite between those three. I like the idea of using wool for the pumpkins. I didn’t think of that but I’m sure I have enough orange wool somewhere to do the same. Fall Fortnight has gotten off to a great start!
Not sure what happened, but my comment disappeared. You may get two and I noticed a couple of others had two of the same comment.
I would love A Walk on the Prairie by Riley Blake. The muted colors of the floral prints mixed with stripes and plaids is delightful.
For some reason, your first one was held for moderation.
Thanks for taking the time to explain! You and your area has been in our prayers. We’ve traveled many times through there and and always enjoyed the local’s hospitality and the beauty of the mountains.
I really like the Thanksgiving table topper design! I wish I had time to sew along right now, but my time is so limited as a caregiver for a friend.
The fabric line I admire the most at FQS is Sanctuary Fat Quarter Bundle by
Tilda Fabrics.
I had company this weekend so I didn’t get to start the table topper, but now I am excited to get to work on it. I have always liked blue and white fabrics so I am drawn to the Shibori Blues bundle by Robert Kaufman.
My favorite is the Safari Lullaby Fat Quarter Bundle by Deane Beesley for Wilmington Prints. So cute!
I am a sucker for batiks, so totally love the new Artisan line. Thanks
purple bouquet yardage for a backing💜💜💜
Oh, the Barn Quilts by Northcott – gorgeous….one of many
My favorite new collection is Home Town by Lori Holt.
Hi Carole! I love the table topper pattern and can’t wait to give it a go! At the Fat Quarter Shop I liked the Daisy and Denim fat quarter bundle.
Sorry I’m so late commenting, also late getting started – I really like the wool applique idea! No edges to turn – although I have to admit I don’t find that an onerous task. Nevertheless, I’m going to first search my wool stash to see if I have something suitable. The leaf panto is pretty & sew fitting.
I just realized that my vulture was a prototype for this cute quilt!
Have you seen photos from Manna Foodbank? They apparently got a new warehouse and it’s been FILLED with donations!
Yes, and I liked the way both turned out. Next I’m planning to do one in a Christmas theme.
Manna is the charity partner of one of our car clubs, some of our members volunteer there every month. It is wonderful that they were able to find a space so quickly, and get up and running to serve the needs of our community now. Unfortunately, the fundraiser we do for them every October had to be canceled, but members are contributing to an online drive to help them raise money.
Thanks to you and Fat Quarter Shop for offering this giveaway. It’s very generous.
I thought my favorite was a toss-up between Shibori Blues and Blast From the Past,, but then I came to A Walk on the Prairie and I think that’s my favorite.
I think your table topper turned out great! My favorite new fabric is Laguna Sunrise from Sheri and Chelsi
I didn’t realize you do the wool applique after quilting. I’ve never done wool app. That new Blessed Nest fabric on their website is so cute – especially in the blues.
It can be done before or after, but with wool I like to do it after.
My choice is the Moda line, Acorn Hollow.
Connie W.
I really love Chickadee farm by Danielle Leone !!
