The lovely temperatures last week made quilting a joy with the windows open. A gentle breeze filtered through the open windows bringing fresh air in the basement. I was able to correct the tension issues, and quilting went fairly smoothly after that.

I worked on it off and on through the week. It was nice to advance to the bottom, knowing I was getting close to done.

The final rows of pantograph went quickly. This one is Fascination from Urban Elementz.

When the quilting was done, I removed it from the frame and trimmed it. The thread color did well, blending in both the light and dark sections. I used a variegated King Tut in the top, with Masterpiece cotton in the bobbin.

It will be delivered on Thursday back to the committee for binding.

The great news is that the backing was from my stash. This is a big quilt, and I used a wide backing, plus I will send all the trimmings with it. The committee can use it for binding, or add it to their bins for background fabric for a future project. I am looking forward to the meeting this week of our guild area, it has been two months since I’ve been able to attend a meeting and I miss my quilting friends.
Stashbuster check in is Friday. What are you sewing this week?
The quilt is beautiful! Enjoy your day. I know how you feel missing your group. I have not seen my group for long time.
I love having my windows opened too and soon the humid weather will come back and I won’t be able to have them open once again and then it will get hot early and the A/C will be back on early.
I hope you can get back to your group soon – I hope it is just something temporary for you, you always seem to enjoy your groups from what you say.
It looks so pretty. Nice to be able to use a lot of your stash on it too.
The quilt looks great! The committee is lucky to have your longarm quilting!
I have a new to me machine embroidery unit and am working down my learning curve. I am working on the embroidery version of Kimberbell’s Vintage Boardwalk quilt. Fell in love with the design before the pandemic. When the design stays in your head for four years, you just have to make it!
This is a gorgeous quilt! So fun to see quilting friends!
Your quilt is really pretty Carole. Such a great organization.
Some lucky service member will be getting a beautiful hug. I love Urban Elementz designs. I see they have some sew-through tissues available. One of these days I might try one. Not so easy to use on a domestic, but maybe if I can dial back my impatient gene……I finished 3 quilts last week, lap sizes & today I’m binding a small table topper size. Next I’m going to make a mug rug & bowl cozy. I’m going to keep on sewing up this collection of fabric until it’s all gone.
Beautiful quilt and what a great view for while you were working on it! It’s going to be very appreciated. I’m finishing up my Rainbow Neighbourhood blocks this week and quilting a blog hop project. Both are coming along nicely!
The quilt turned out beautifully. Some lucky Vet will feel very special. Yesterday I finished up (and posted) my Oh My Strippy Stars so I’m a little in between projects. I’ll probably be working on the April Uptown applique BOM. Need to get caught up. If I get a little machine time, I’d like to put in some work on a recently discovered UFO. See you Friday for the Stashbuster Report!
Beautiful Carole.
Nicely done; I’m so glad the tension issues were quick to fix and stayed corrected. Enjoy your meeting this week!
Very nice and I’m sure it will be well loved. This is a wonderful thing you are doing. Yesterday brought back some memories and I’m sure these Veterans appreciate this. Thanks
Beautiful quilt, Carole!
Beautiful quilt and quilting Carole.
I’m putting the binding on the quilt made for my 16 yr old grandson (the last of 12) so I will be able to count all of that material for this month’s stashbuster check in. I agreed to do the quilting on my long arm for a couple of quilts made by my daughter-in-law‘s grandmother. She usually just ties her quilts, but she asked if I might be willing to do this for her. I wouldn’t do this for just anyone, but she is a longtime friend who I love dearly.
Our days have been quite beautiful, the perfect temps in the high 60s and cool at night. I love the windows being open and hearing the birdsong and feeling the ocean breezes. The quilt of valor is lovely and wonderful that you have some fabric to add to their stash!
It’s such a treat when we have “windows open” days. I’m having one today. The quilt turned out so pretty. A veteran is going to love it.
That turned out so well, Carole. And great for stashbusting, too!
Beautiful job on that! I am still working on DH’s shirts, but tomorrow I think I ‘ll be up to the buttonholes. Just one more set of side seams, before I attach the cuffs. I got Ms. Necchi back yesterday so now I don’t have to keep switching out thread.
Oh that quilt is so pretty! The stash busting is always good too. Working on getting caught up on Quadrille.
I totally adore this quilt. Log cabins are my all time favorite designs. It always surprises me at how each one can look so different depending on the fabrics, set up and shapes. I love this one and I think it sings.
