Scrap Dance Quadrille Mystery Quilt Along – Step 4

It is month four of the Scrap Dance mystery quilt along for 2023, and I hope you are having fun with this! For those just now finding this mystery quilt along, click on Scrap Dance Quadrille Step 1 for the overview with fabric requirements and cutting instructions, and then on Quadrille Step 2 for the first sewing step. The third month’s clue can be found at Scrap Dance Quadrille Step 3. Today we get a little farther along.

In making the pdf for this step, I have realized that I may have had you cut too much for the king size. If anyone is making that size, let me know. I’d like your help at the end to double check my numbers.

Here is your pdf for this month – Quadrille April Step 4

Our lesson for today is to make sure that you get your points nice and sharp. You’ll be making this unit –

In order to get that point sharp, with a full 1/4-inch seam allowance, be sure you carefully line up the HSTs with the seam lines on top of each other. Pinning helps! If you don’t pin carefully, and sew with a precise quarter-inch seam you sometimes get this. I took this seam out and did it again.

Press to one side.

As you are sewing scrappy half square triangles together, use this opportunity to use up some of your bobbin threads by using them as the top thread.

Please do not show any part of the download sheet chart or instructions in your photos on social media. Please do not pin any part of this post to Pinterest. Please share your progress in our Facebook group!

The next step will publish on May 12, and that is where things will really get fun!!

How are you doing with this mystery quilt along?

I’m kind of behind on the steps for this quilt, but just keep printing out the steps so that I can get back to it. Thanks for the tips on sewing pieces together more accurately!

  2. Having a lot of fun with this! It’s also teaching me to “let go!” Things don’t always have to match! (Except triangle corners of course.) Your tips keep this moving along so smoothly. Thanks!!!!!
