Autumn Elegance Publishes!

I’m a cover girl!! Last fall, my pattern design was accepted by Quilts and More magazine for this year. The magazine officially publishes tomorrow, August 5th, and you can find it in grocery stores, bookstores with magazine racks, and some quilt shops. Beginnings Quilt Shop will have it locally as well.

Art Gallery Fabrics generously gave me the fabrics to make the quilt, and the colors I chose put the feel firmly in the Autumn season. The fabric is a polished cotton in their Decostitch Elements line. You all know I just love those colors. I had about 12 weeks to get the quilt made from acceptance to deadline, and much of it was done during Autumn Jubilee last October. It had to ship before Thanksgiving.

Imagine my delight when the editors looked at all the photos for the issue, and decided on mine for the cover shot! I’ve been over the moon, and the secret has been next to impossible to keep! I’ve known about it for about 2 months now.

I called the quilt Vineyard, and the magazine used my quote for the explanation of quilting with a grapevine pantograph. The pantograph is Vineyard designed by Lisa Thiessen of Threadsongs for Willow Leaf Studio. The thread is sage green Glide, with Bottom Line in the bobbin, and Hobbs 80/20 Batting.

The quilt was designed in EQ8, with Art Gallery Decostitch Elements fabric images included in the monthly downloads from their website last year.

So now you know what I was putting a sleeve on last weekend! I intend to show the quilt soon.

Getting published is a blast!!
