Autumn Jubilee Cardmaking Fun

I like making cards for friends and family and Autumn is the best time to send some cheer. It is no secret that my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving with the parade, a special breakfast, calling friends and family for cheerful wishes, the aroma of baking turkey and dressing, and a full day of football along with the anticipation of the holiday season beginning. Naturally, I have been sending Thanksgiving cards for years. It is fun to send a few just to say happy fall too. I begin with pulling out my tub of Autumn related stamps, some fall color papers and inks, and a few stickers and other fall inspired elements, all from Impression Obsession. I love this sentiment from the Pumpkin Kisses set. This set is discontinued, but there are some great new ones on the Impression Obsession website. The sentiment is stamped in orange ink with an orange frame, mounted on a leaf print paper then placed on a rust color bar. Sometimes simple is elegant.

Inside a sentiment of Pumpkin Kisses. This sentiment is available separately now in a slightly different look.

There are some wonderful Autumn Inspired stamps new this season. I used the same design as the card above, just changing the sentiment and frame color for a second card. Inside it says Happy Thanksgiving. This time I add a leaf sticker as an accent.

A burgundy card says “So Very Thankful”, with a personal sentiment inside. I used another leaf sticker here, too.

Using elements cut from cards received is a great way to recycle. For this one, I cut out a lovely pair of pine cones that had glitter accents. It is placed on a horizontal bar of gold with the sentiment stamped on one side. Small pumpkins are stamped below.

For this card, I used the leaves and acorns from the Seasonal Background Cube. I stamped it several times all over, using two colors of ink. The Autumn Is a Second Spring sentiment is framed in rust and mounted on a horizontal strip of gold and rust color paper.

Your “very thankful” card – I’m studying your paper placement and how you made disparate colors and patterns work together

I admire the way you layer all the elements & incorporate recycled bits from other cards. I have some scrapbooking/paper crafting supplies. I used to make individualized cards for my support staff at work but nothing approaching your artistry. I liked the nature themed stamps on IO, especially the potted plants.

  3. Carole, I’m making cards right now, too! I send out a monthly newsletter to family and friends and always try to send a handmade card along with it! I’m also working on a 6″ x 6″ scrapbook of barn quilts we have seen in Wisconsin. I like some of the barns stamps offered at IO: K1159 Barn, J1285 Apple Barn or SS-1149-K Summer Barn & Windmill. They will make great accents to some of the pages!

I never considered making cards till I saw all the stamps that are available now. Wow—how cute and creative they are. I adore the fall season, so of course I love the Halloween inspired stamps, especially the black cats and ghouls.

Your personalized cards are so pretty! I imagine all the recipients of your cards are thrilled to get them!

I am just into stamping and would love the rubber stamps – the sea grass and the wheat cluster. They are beautiful. Thanks

I have only dabbled a bit with card making, you make it look so intriguing that I want to start again! The site is wonderful, so many different and varied topics, thank you for the introduction. I love the Dragonfly stamps, especially Change the World and Nature Prints. Have a wonderful Sunday.

  7. Oh how I wish I lived closer to you and we could make cards together. But virtually is the next best thing. Your cards are so beautiful and all inspirational. Impression Obsession has so many stamps and more to help make spectacular cards, Happy Mail and more. I’m particularly drawn to: Sea Turtles, Fish, Fish Net, Crab, Lighthouse circle, Sun and Moon, but I could go on an on as I love them all. Hard to pick a single FAV.

Trying to resist Impression Obsession products is futile! Not sure how you get credit for referring, so wrote a note on my order to inquire about the process. Hopefully mentioning your name is enough, but unsure if simply clicking their address on your blog does the trick. . . Sooner or later I’ll get it!

Your cards are very nice! I also make cards but not for Thanksgiving. After seeing yours, I just might have to make some. I like Winter Branch stamp set. I haven’t heard of this company so thank you for sharing.
