Last weekend was a fun holiday weekend with lots of activities. We started the weekend at Mountain Fresh Orchards on Saturday, having lunch with our friend, Jeff. He had a booth there with his wonderful pottery, and I think he made this green bowl just to tempt me. It is a cereal bowl size and perfect for use in the kitchen. I put some of the strawberries I got from Strawberry Hill in it. You can see his marvelous work at Oz Pottery. I have several of his pieces.
This is my tablescape for this year with my patriotic table runner, the little sprays and red chargers holding star plates.
I cut blue hydrangeas for a glass vase for the centerpiece.
We had hamburgers on the grill, with deviled eggs for an appetizer.
My Sweet Babboo grilled some ears of corn as well, and I cut the kernels off the cobs for the meal.
I cleaned the strawberries and added some blueberries for our July 4th dessert. The berries went on top of pound cake and topped with real whipped cream.
After our meal, we headed downtown to enjoy the shows. There were two music stages, and a small festival of street food, games and performers. The band in front of the historic courthouse was playing bluegrass music.
On the permanent stage at the Visitor Center, a group called Dashboard Blue was playing oldies. Lots of people were dancing and they were fun to watch.
They played a nice variety of songs, and kept going all the way up to the start of the fireworks.
The fireworks show began just after dark, around 9:30.
I had some fun with the fireworks setting on my camera. The show went on until after 10 pm.
Back home, I will leave the patriotic decorations up this week. We are having our neighbors over for dinner on Sunday, so I’ll need a pretty table for that.
All I’ll need to do is cut more of the prolific hydrangeas for the glass vase, and move the decorations to the outdoor table, weather permitting.
The garden is popping with new things, and I’ll show you more of that on Sunday with our chat. Did you have a fun Fourth?

Your fireworks photos came out pretty well! Our 4th was quiet, it was really hot here so we just tried to stay cool and watered the garden!
That does sound like a fun day! Life is mostly back to normal! You got some great photos of the fireworks, too. We missed our “local” fireworks as they moved them for the second year in a row to an area way east of town and required that people drive out there. Not nearly as festive as walking down to the lake just a mile away.
Too bad your potter freind is in Greenville….I saw several pieces I’d like to own!!!
He comes up here pretty regularly, I’ll ask him when he’ll be at Mountain Fresh Orchards again.
pottery is my down fall – I just love it – that bowl is so pretty – I normally buy coffee mugs and have so many I am trying to limit myself – your 4th looks perfect

Looks like a great time, everyone is making sure to celebrate after missing holiday fun last year. The fireworks look terrific. Oh, what a mouthwatering dessert.

Your fireworks photos are terrific! I took a few on my phone from our porch of an “unscheduled display” above the tree tops. We had sparklers and small fireworks with the grandkids. Honestly it looks to me like your town did it up right and things are getting back to normal! Finally.
bluegrass music is always great to listen too, and the new pottery, perfect for the berries.
What a great 4th of July celebration at your place. We went out for BBQ after watching tennis, baseball, & golf on the TV. Then we were serenaded all evening and into the night with different neighbors’ firecrackers & fireworks. Happy Birthday, USA!
