Tables for two have become the norm here this year, so for Autumn Jubilee (#AutumnJubilee2020), I have a festive fall tablescape for 2. Without being able to have friends over, it is more important than ever that the table be a welcoming and seasonal place for a meal. I try every year to use what I already have in new combinations, and I don’t think I’ve done this one before. It begins with the placemats. I made these before I began blogging. I used a couple of yards of a lovely gold leaf printed on a plaid base, and quilted the piece as a whole cloth. Then I cut it up into placemats and bound them.
The table is set with just two places, and some of my all time favorite dishes. The stack base is a brown charger, topped with burnt orange, ruffle edge dinner plates, and my Autumn leaves salad plates.
Gold napkins are held with brown beaded gold wire napkin rings. This is a table for every day of autumn, so everyday flatware is added.
I love these pumpkin bowls, and serve soup in them.
A basket with a leaf design handle anchors the centerpiece, offset to one side to take up the space of two place settings.
I surrounded the base with artificial leaf garland, and my crackle glass candle holders.
Inside, Dollar Tree pumpkins along with leaves and mums complete the arrangement.
On the side facing the den, dried corn gives some interest to the back side.
Glass mugs and individual salt and pepper shakers complete the settings. A bit of extra space in the center has a pumpkin plate.
We’ve enjoyed this tablescape all month. The gold and brown with rust accents are very traditional, and it pleases me this time of year.
Halloween isn’t going to be a part of our October this year, we never get trick or treaters anyway, and all our gatherings have canceled. But if you have plans for Boo-day, here’s a spooky tablescape for you – Halloween Tablescape with Lights.
And here is one from 2016 that is a happy Halloween Tablescape.

How are you keeping the autumn spirit on your table this season? Do you have a favorite table topper for fall?
love all your table decorations and a give away sounds great.
I love that autumn Leaf setting table!! Just beautiful enjoy hugs, Julierose
Your tablescapes are always so fun and thoughtfully arranged. I’m loving those pumpkin bowls! While I have always loved a beautifully set table, it’s just the two of us these days and simplicity suits my energy level best. It will be just the two of us for Thanksgiving this year, but will try to spruce the table up a bit. Thanks for the inspiration !
Love both table setting! Where do you store everything?
Your table looks so inviting, Where do you store all your decorations and dishes.
This is a lovely table for two that you can enjoy daily. I love the plate stack!
Good morning Carole,
Your autumn table is beautiful. I am having an aha moment when I read how you approached making your placemats. A great approach, and one I hope to use for Christmas. I don’t have any lovely dishes for autumn or any special day, but I admire all those I see, Our house is quite small, and it would be space for me to sew, or storage for beautiful decor. You can imagine what I choose. although there are no covid cases in our area at present, we are keeping to ourselves as well. Better to stay safe. There continues to be so much death and suffering . My heart cries for these losses. Stay safe, and enjoy your day
Lynn
We are having a safely social Halloween in our neighborhood, so I’ve been working on a costume for my son, of course this year the leaves are actually turning before Halloween and it’s been a gorgeous Autumn. I’m thankful for all the Autumn colors around us!
So great to figure out a way to do this safely, so the fun can be there for the kids.
Gem quilts and 3D quilts captivate me.
your fall dishes are beautiful! i love c&t publishing. thanks!
Your tablescapes are always beautiful!
A lovely table as usual!! Having our Florida friends back in our mountains for three weeks in their cottage down the road, I’ll have to kick it up a notch for our occasional ‘safe’ meals together and your tablescapes are always inspirational!! I’ve had my eye on the Festive Fall Quilts book for a while. Thanks for your effort to pull together Autumn Jubilee!! I’ve really enjoyed each and every post!!
Very nice, Carole. I like how you created the little vignette on the table for two. It makes it cozy.
I have the same Halloween plates
Your tablescapes are always attractive. I especially like the way you reuse, mix and match, and share thrift store finds. This inspired me to search for local thrift shops when we were able to travel. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.
Connie
I always love seeing your tablescapes, Carole!
Your table looks lovely. What a great suggestion for making placemats.
So fun to see your table displays
I love fall tablescapes! Your tabletops are very festive. My current fav topper is one I made from a past Autumn Jubilee, alternating large pumpkins & maple leaves. Thanks for all the lovely ideas.
I love your spooky plates and setting – you always have the right pieces for the right occasion – many years of collecting, right? Always a pleasure to see your latest finds 🙂
Mine is set for six today. I have an autumn jubilee table runner (pumpkins and leaves 6″ squares) and my coordinating leaves placemats. I have a collection of vintage candles shaped in pumpkin, jack-o-lantern, and cornucopia on the runner in the middle. My granddaughter added 2 gourds from her garden last week. Thanks for your inspiring tables. 🙂 Be well.
Another beautiful and inspiring table scape-love the leaves plates!
I imagine that a meal at your table is a joyous occasion. The tablescape invites diners to linger over food and good conversation.
I use a fall table runner I made for my dining table. I am inspired by your tablescape.
What a gorgeous tablescape…but I’ve not seen one of yours that isn’t! Mr. C must think he’s the luckiest man alive! (Those little bowls are so sweet!) Can you believe we’re nearing the end of October? Only 2 months to go and this crazy year will be over…and hopefully taking some of it’s craziness with it! Autumn Jubilee is one of the sane things of this year…thanks for bringing it back each year! Blessings from WV.
What I love about your tablescapes is EVERYTHING! We love pumpkin soup and butternut squash soup. Very rich and sweet. Was looking at the placemat – is that a linen? I’m having fun with the sew along and finishing up Christmas gifts so I can get them in the mail by Turkey Day. Yeah – it is sneaking up on me. One done and 5 more to go. Doing a lot of walking and Leaf Peeping here – the colors are amazing. Thanks, j
Love the Halloween plates -remind me of Debbie Mumm
They are Sakura China designed by David Carter Brown.
Love your fall table for two.
Seeing your lovely photos, I know that I need to put more effort into decorating our table! I have 3 fall/Halloween table runners that I rotate and it gives me the fuzzy vibes of settling in for the winter.

The pumpkin bowls are just too cute. I don’t really do Halloween but my grands will come by for a treat and this year it will be homemade cracker jacks. They only go around to family for safety …but there is a lot of family for them to load up on treats.
Your tablescapes always make me smile. They are created with a great sense of fun and beauty.
Love your blog! I really enjoy reading and the things you share.
What lovely table designs. Very warm and welcoming.
Oh~ to have a table to set again 🙂 Mine is taken up with my husbands computer and 3 screens for gaming – I guess I shouldn’t complain, he is saving us from alien invasion – LOL – I’ll relish in your gorgeous table settings for now.
Your DH is a lucky guy for all the good cooking and lovely tablescapes you create. 🙂
I made a fall, pumpkin table runner. That will work well for me!!
I have more fall table runners than for any other holiday–so very colorful. Love your table scapes, Carole. Beautiful, colorful, so YOU. :o)
Your table is beautiful! Love the bowls. The only decorating in my home is a topper on the table with my ceramic pumpkins, and maybe a autumn themed quilt on the couch. We don’t have the same kind of seasons as the eastern states do.
love your placemats and the construction technique is very clever. i may have to copy that idea.
Love your tablescape! I enjoy fall colors……and the leaves are falling too soon EVERY YEAR!
I love them too much. Thank you for sharing this cheery table..
With no guests this year, and living alone, decorating will be nada…..I think I just may be able to get the tree up for Christmas….but then not having a complaint department for the dogs to use, I feel absolutely no pressure!!!
Your posts are so much fun always, but especially this year!!!
You are so creative and always come up with such lovely tablescapes. I love your Autumn tablescape, as well as your Halloween theme. Absolutely inviting.
Lovely tablescape. The colors of Fall are so warm and inviting.
Beautiful inspiring table setting!
Very pretty.
Your table decorations are always so beautiful and unique!! I made a couple of table toppers this fall–one Autumn (Maple leaves) that I have on the table right now along with a vase of the last garden flowers (Mostly assorted zinnias). The second one is a Halloween hexagon table topper that I will use next.
Hello Carole, I love your table settings for two this year for Autumn Jubilee! Using all of those wonderful colors of Fall just make you want to have a hot and delicious bowl of soup along with a good helping of a favorite main dish and my go to butternut squash. I have been continuing to sew up placemats for a friend of ours, who delivers Meals on Wheels, since you brought up the topic quite awhile ago (I forgot when). Thank you for sharing and have a splendid day!
Beautiful table Carole! Your bowls make me think of making squash soup for lunch this week! Church was cancelled this morning, so I have been been finishing some little bits and working on the Autumn Jubilee rows. My pumpkin strips are done, and I’m ready to start sewing on the leaf row. I love that you did a row quilt this year, it has been so much fun!
I love your pumpkin bowls, Carole! They are just so much fun! It’s always enjoyable to see your creative tablescapes.
I love scarecrows so I have a couple I put out for the fall and a fall leaves candle holder. I’m also making a new table runner with scarecrows on it.
What a beautiful table you set! Thanks for sharing.
I think it is very important to treat ourselves at this time. Little perk me ups lift us and this setting is just the right perk.
I am always amazed at your table decorations. My DIL has decorations for every season and holiday and I love to see what she has on display monthly. Me, not so much. I have fall decorations but other than a table runner I haven’t gotten them out. We’ve had lots of non Covid related things happening and they just haven’t been on my to do list. But yours are amazing. Thanks.
But you are having friends over – all your blogging friends are virtually coming over to see your spectacular table setting 🙂
I am in the process of making a crazy quilt table runner right now. I have several different harvest fabrics and some solids in there. I love decorating my tables for the holiday seasons.
Your table settings are beautiful and inspiring! I just love fall table runners and toppers and have several that I use. My current favorite features pumpkins! I also have some with leaves and turkeys. It seems that Christmas decorations come out earlier every year but I would rather enjoy the fall things for a while.
I always enjoy your table settings. And fall is my favorite season so I am especially happy to see this.
You always have the prettiest place settings and a true love of autumn!
I have a fall table runner but nothing else out of the ordinary. Your tablescape looks wonderful! Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos and for everything you’ve shared during Autumn Jubilee.
Love the Halloween Tablescape. My youngest son was born on Oct. 31st and he would love his birthday meal looking like that.
Your table looks lovely and inviting. I will decorate my table the first of November. Making Fall items like a banner and table toppers.
Carla from Utah
I love your table. Looks wonderful.
Thanks for sharing such beauty.
The colours are lovely. So rich, warm and vibrant.
Hi Carole, An attractive table really sets the mood. Love the idea of quilting a whole piece of cloth and then cutting it up to make the placemats. It’s fall y’all .
I always love the work you put into decorating a beautiful table. Your collection of various seasonal dishes are just gorgeous. This table is stunning too. It would be so pleasant to sit down to a meal surrounded by such autumn glory.
Love your tablescape. They are always so pretty. You have inspired me to create a tablescape for just the two of us this evening. We never eat at my solid oak dining table except when company is coming with this year is non-existent. I put a roast in the crockpot this morning with carrots, onions, and potatoes around it, so it is a suitable meal for the dining area. It will surprise hubby as usually we eat at the counter or in our favorite chairs in the living room watching Gunsmoke. I’ll have to take a picture to post after the meal this evening. Thank you again, Carole, and thank you for your sponsor, C&T Publishing. Hope I can win this one!!
I always enjoy seeing your table settings. Don’t know how you have room for storing them all. You must have a big house:)
I do not have a table for Autumn but I do have tea towels that I get our for Fall. They have the beautiful rich colors on them with a leaf design. Love!
Your autumn table setting looks so inviting, I really don’t have any autumn table pieces but you’re inspiring me to make some.
Very pretty Carole!!
Jenna
What a great way to make the table mats! What kind of batting do you use for that? We have little room for extra holiday decorations, I’m feeling good with using our everyday white with blue placemats that we eat off of almost all the time. Guess that would be too boring for you. We do use our red Christmas dishes that my mom got us for the month of December, so that is a different tablescape for us. Thanks for sharing.
I use cotton batting for placemats. No pretty table is boring, even if it is there everyday. Plus, I promise you, I am not judgemental. What works for you is best.
Carole, your autumn table setting is inviting. Like you, a table for two has been the norm with us this year.
Your tables are always an inspiration. It is a lovely way to make a season or holiday special. I have Autumn and Christmas dishes but no other holidays
