Apple Tablescape

Apple Festival weekend starts today, a four-day, annual, Labor Day weekend event, done like only a small town can do it.  It is the end of summer, and almost time for my favorite season, autumn, but not quite yet.  So, an apple tablescape is in order once again.  I put this one together using only items I already had, combining them in a new way.  You can see previous Apple Festival tablescapes from 2016, 2017, and 2018 by clicking on the years.  Some items come out each year, others change so no two are exactly alike.  This time, I began with a cream tablecloth, my apple runner and red chargers.  I dug out the wooden apples, my apple salad plates, and a few additional items to play with.

Red napkins are held with apple motif napkin rings.

I have some apple motif ramekins that match the napkin rings, so I got those out too.  Perhaps this year an apple creme brulee?

For the centerpiece, I have a low black iron display piece, and I found red candle holders for it at another thrift store.  They hold unscented candles.  Originally, I was thinking of this piece for a Christmas table, but the red fits right in with the apples, too.  I filled the center with an apple candle ring and set some wood apples on top.

On each end, I placed more apples, including a half apple on each side that are salt and pepper shakers.  I only use them for centerpieces.

Here’s a closer view of the centerpiece, you can see the tiny apples on the bottom that are part of the candle ring base.

Finishing the place settings, I used our silverplate flatware, and added wine glasses.  The apple salad plates have four different scenes, some have little birds.

Others have just apples.

There are two different motifs with just apples.

At the other end of the table, one more with a bird.

Of course, I added individual salt and peppers to each setting.  I only have four of any one wine glass pattern, so this time I selected pink depression glass stems for the ends of the table.

So, there it is, all done and ready to enjoy as decor or to host a fun meal.  Apple Festival time is here!

I don’t think of using red except for Valentines Day and Christmas. Why? You table setting is beautiful.

This is a great Apple Festival table, and I am going to go back and see your posts about previous years later today. I really like those apple plates and the half-apple salt/peppers. Enjoy the holiday weekend! I plan on resting Saturday, then my daughter and her family are coming up Sunday so I’ll be playing with my grandchildren. Happiness!

  2. Your tablescape is beautiful! My cousin was married in the Berkshires a few years ago in September and a group of us traveled to attend. We stayed at a bed and breakfast in Lenox, MA and they were having their annual Apple Smash festival that weekend. It was so much fun and some of the nicest people I’ve met in a long time. Every booth had something made with apples or apple products…cider, cakes, applesauce, wine, soap! Such a fun celebration!

  3. Lovely, Carole! I grew up with Blossom Festival in May, celebrating the apple blossoms opening, so we are book ends. 🙂 this will be my second Labor Day weekend, assuming I don’t have to go clean at the campground. Will run over and check later this am, so I can get my whole schedule for September. Monday piano lessons start!

  4. I love your apple themed tablescape! I grew up in Washington DC — each fall my mom, sister and I would go to the Apple Festival in Virginia — it was a great time. My mom would make all kinds of apple goodies for us – using the apples we purchased. Seeing your display made me think of my mom — she would love it ♥♥

I LOVE this tablescape – whenever I’m in a charity shop and I see decorative plates, I always think of you 🙂

You always set such lovely tables, but I have to admit that I am very partial to the Apple setting as a start to the Harvest Festival Season ahead.

  7. It;’s lovely, now I’d like to see your “nuts and bolts” of how you store and organize so much please. You talents are many and I am inspired continuously by you. But I do wonder……

Your apple tablescape is beautiful, as always Carole. I love autumn too, with the exception of all the falling leaves, which cover the grass, but they look so pretty in their seasonal colors. Have a nice holiday weekend. I’m saying extra prayers for all in Florida, who are in Dorian’s treacherous path.

That’s beautiful! Wish I had some fresh North Georgia apples right now! We usually get them in the fall on annual family trips to Gatlinburg….so juicy and good!

Question……do you have much depression glass? I was antique dealer for 13 years and still love it..especially the pink. Have a set of pink Jeanette Fine Rib and several other pink pieces. Also have lots of Jadeite which I’ve collected for years. Seems real china had taken a hit as paper products and disposables are the life style of young working people today. But I still love the glass & china!!😀

  10. I love this Carole! Apples are so perfect to kick off the fall season! Your plates are beautiful and it all looks wonderful set off by the dramatic black and red apple cloth! Enjoy your break!
