In the mail before the holidays, I received this lovely quilt top from Annie in Vashon Island, WA. She had asked if I wanted it for the project. I told her that I would quilt it and she sent it on. I finally got to it this past week.
I pulled a wide backing from my stash, and loaded it onto the longarm.
I used a pantograph that I often use, its swirled pattern is easy to do, quick and covers a lot of space in one pass.
The top thread is Glide in a golden brown color, with Bottom Line in the bobbin.
I like the way it adds a bit of pattern to the white areas and texture to the dark ones.
The thread color is very close to the wheat motif in the print.
So quick, the quilting was accomplished in just one day.
It was so nice of Annie to also send the binding, already made.
After trimming the top, I could immediately get to binding.
I did it by machine both front and back.
All finished and ready to send to Wilmington.
There will be an update on January 6th for the Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project. I have been working on a drop off network in North Carolina, and will announce the participants then. I have a network of longarmers ready to help quilt tops and ship, all you need to do is let me know you have a top and backing ready to send. I have reports of quilts already delivered as well, and I’ll show you some of that soon too.
What are you working on?
Craftsy is making a big change to its offerings, significantly reducing the number of designers and pattern stores, and possibly reducing the patterns of the designers remaining. See their Store Changes FAQs. I am one of the lucky ones that Craftsy wants to keep, but they may not keep all the patterns I have with them. I won’t know until after the weekend. From now until 12/28, all the stores and patterns will remain on the site, so you have until the end of the week to get any that you might want, from my store or any others you’ve been thinking about. So, in order to help you shop, I’ve put all my Patterns on Sale 25% Off for Christmas! The regular price was $9, now $6.75 until Friday 12/28/18.
