Square Dance Promenade

This month we Promenade!!  Just this step to do, and next month will be the final assembly and big reveal.  I hope you are having fun!

Square Dance! at FromMyCarolinaHome.com

This month, you’ll be joining your Allemande Left units to your scrappy Come Down the Middle units.  Lay your stacks like this so you get them all oriented correctly.  The Fabric-A point should be pointing up with the Fabric A on the left.  Sew the unit to the scrappy units.  It doesn’t matter what value on the right side goes on the edge or in the middle.  Just try to get them not to have the same print together.

You’ll notice that the point on the green print is more than 1/4-inch away from the edge.  Don’t freak out, this is the way it is supposed to be.

Use all the Allemande Left and Come Down the Middle units you have to make these.

Here is your pdf for this month’s clue – PromenadeMay

If you are just now finding the mystery, or you missed a step, get the January instructions for cutting, February’s Do-Si-Do step, March’s Come Down the Middle step, and April’s Allemande Left step by clicking on those steps and downloading the pdfs on each one.

Just as a reminder, I am still on my short break from blogging, and this will be the only post until May 27th. During this time, I won’t be answering any comments, but rest assured I will read every one when I get back. Please don’t worry, I’m fine and healthy, I just need to be away from the computer for a bit.

Are you Square Dancing with us? How are you coming along?

  1. April still beckons, and I KNEW that would happen. I carried it with me to a hotel in Virginia last week for “evening cutting” but that just didn’t happen. PLANNING the afternoon in my sewing room today while the rain pours!

  2. Hi Carole,
Love the QAL! I am following along with great interest as I cannot participate right now and am annoyed that I didn’t. Happy Friday! ~smile~ Roseanne

OMG, somehow I messed up on the length of my cutting template and those units are 7”, not 6 1/2”. Can anyone suggest a “fix”?

my bias block is longer than my other block. I used 6 1/2 by 2 1/2 and have a rec sq now and all the points right. is it ok to just sew from the top to the bottom and sq up? thank you for your help, sandy

    Hello Carole,

Colors for this are beautiful, good luck with the project.

Been doing a little planting of some ferns I bought, One is a cinnamon fern, so anxious to get it going, there were 3 plants so cleaned the containers and painted them and now waiting for them to get going.

Bought some seeds on a strip and its planted all rolled up, don’t know how this is going to turn out but giving it a try. These are annuals which I don’t usually buy, I prefer the perennials sine they are less work and multiply, I like the less work plants, leaves more time to do other things. Made my daughter-in-law a glass plant stand for her plants, she loves to grow them for her indoor window-seals. I have a low of ideas for my own home I’d like to make this summer.

  6. So excited… can’t wait to get sewing my units together!
Thanks for pointing out the place where the point will be farther away from the edge than we
are used to… that would have panicked me!!

I respond to comments via email if I have a valid email address. Thank you for reading my blog!
