Long time readers of my blog may remember this pillow design I did for Moda Bake Shop last year. When I finished it, I thought that the tree looked a bit plain, and it might be fun to embellish it a bit with some hand work. So, this year, I dug out some Christmas buttons, pearls and large red crystals to trim the tree.
The original pattern for the pillow can be downloaded with this link in a pdf file – Christmas Tree Pillow. I started with putting a little gold star button at the top, then arranging a few Christmas buttons on three seam points.
I added red crystals to many of the seam points, leaving spaces for lighter colors of pearls and buttons.
These clear and white flower buttons looked great.
Soon, every point on the tree had an ornament.
Looks nice on the sofa for the holiday season with my adorable stuffed reindeer. He’s made a holiday appearance for many years now. Isn’t he cute?
Have you ever gone back to embellish a finished item?
