New Year’s Eve

I had to work on New Year’s Eve this year, so I didn’t plan a gathering.  You can read about my party last year with our Champagne taste test, bottle bags, and get my Jumpin’ John black eye pea recipe on my post New Year’s Good Luck.   Today, I had to do a quick post to remind you to put your money outside this evening!

I have no idea where this tradition came from, but my mother did it, so I do too.  You hide some money outside on New Year’s Eve, then bring the money into the house on New Year’s Day.  It is supposed to bring good fortune with it, as long as it is still there, LOL!!

It is said you should do on New Year’s day the things you want to do all year long, so I am going to do some sewing on New Year’s day and relax.  I will not be doing any laundry.  I am working on the blocks for the next mystery, and it is looking good!    Look for the first post around the end of next week

OH!!  And set your recorder for Sunday night, the premiere of the last season of Downton Abbey begins!  Our local PBS station is also showing Downton Abbey specials both before and after the new episode.  For my newer followers, I am a huge DA fan, and was able to visit the Biltmore House last spring to see the Dressing Downton exhibit.  Click on the link to see the promotional photos I was able to share like these.

Happy New Year!!  Do you have plans for this weekend?
